  1. tennis is the best:  You've been fooled by the paint job.   The whole point is that he is really using the Prostaff 90, it's just painted to look like the newest thing that wilson has.

This is so that Federer doesn't have to change racquets, but he keeps his sponsorship because he's still helping to sell the K-factors.

So whenever you've seen him play, it's been the same racquet all along.  And it's never been what it appears to be.

Check out this article about it:

  2. I don't think so :) but he hasn't really been playing as well as he use to lately so i'm not sure

  3. The following is taken from an interview of Andy Roddick from the April, 2007 issue of TENNIS Magazine...

Tennis Magazine: Are you surprised guys don't pressure him (Federer), chip and charge, that kind of thing?

Roddick: I'm going to break it down for you. What's the primary difference between now and 10 years ago? It's not equipment, dude. Roger uses the same racquet Pete used, I've used the same racquet for eight years. The only thing that's different now is the Luxilon strings. It doesn't make you hit harder, it just allows you to take woolly-mammoth swings all day and the ball still comes down.

I wonder if Roddick's racquet sponsor (Babolat) was very pleased to to see that he said this?

  4. IDK. They are not advertising any racket paint

  5. Well yes and no. It is a direct descendant of the old pro-staff used to such great effect by Pistol Pete Sampras amongst others. But, over time, as technology has changed, it has been continually modified. A lot of racquets go through this sort of evolutionary process. The Head Prestige is a great example. From the original all the way to the latest Microgel version, the basic essence of the racquet remains the same despite ongoing improvements in terms of materials used. In other words, whilst it may look (in terms of shape) just like its older relative, a lot has changed beneath the surface.

  6. Heh! That would be a good idea if he did.

No, he helped develop the K-factor, so he better use it!  Personally i think his old racquet was better. He won more with it. Maybe the new racquet is screwy.  I want to try a k factor myself, though. I'd like to try it out.

  7. All pro's use a racket with modifications to them. The weight and shape of the frame can differ enormously. For instance Djokovic is actually using a head racket when it's painted as a wilson. Federer is definately not using the same model of K factor that you and I can buy in the shops but it will be similar.

  8. aha, a new excuse from the fed fans for his losses. But they forget he won the aussie open last year with the same racquet and I bet several grandslams before that also with the same racquet.
