people have asked this question so many times because they want to know if the joker character messed with his mind. according to all his co-stars he never seemed to be affected out of character.

No, he was just an unlucky victim of a bad combination of meds.

I think that he killed himself and not "accidentally" over dosed on meds. Heath was on of those method actors that became the character when he was acting. I believe that the Joker's role was so dark and twisted that Heath couldnt get out of character and went insane. If you look at interviews and articles of Heath after he filmed batman, he said numerous of times that after playing the role of the joker he was having reocurring thoughts and problems sleeping......

I think it was an honest mistake.

He didn't seem like one of the "crazies" who would do something like that.

Plus, his career was really taking off. He'd have no reason to kill himself.
