im 14 and ill be 15 in december 4 but this past baseball season (couple months ago) i was easily the best player on my team. i dont mean to brag but i was. idk what my batting average was but im assuming it was high cuz i struck out like 5 times the whole season and everygame i got at least one hit. im 5'11 and 180 pounds right now and still growing. naturally im a 3rd or 1st baseman. but i could be a catcher if i worked on it more. but i live in the cape which is where the scouts look for players. cuz a lot of major league players right now have been in the cae league. nomar garciapara, mo vaughn, jason varitek, and jacoby ellsbury. all red sox players. (my home team) and ik the chance are really low of making it the the bigs but still when my team cant get a hit i always pull through and get a hit when my team need one big. i kept track of my RBIs and i had 17 in 14 games. so do u think i could at least make it to the minors of a majors team?

  1. Why don't you know your batting average?  Anyways, you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.  Good job and try hard.

  2. it really depends on your competion. Im 14  6'1 180 and batting bout 550 in aau ball. I pitch and play shortstop, i throw around 81mph with a 75mph cutter i throw a slider as well as a dropball and circlechange. This weekend I went 6 for 11 with 9 rbis in 4 games in a tournament consisting of the best teams of the region. early in the season we played a team that was terrible and i had seven rbis but it did not mean anything b/c of the pittiful competition.

  3. After doing some really quick math...I think on average in the major leagues right now there are probably about 50 people who are 23, 50 people who are 24, etc.  On average.

So if you are among the best 50 14-year-olds in the US+Dominican Republic+other countries, and stay in that position, then sure.

But how many thousands of teams are there?  Just because you're the best on your team doesn't mean there aren't hundreds or thousands of other guys from other teams who are better than you.  Maybe there are, maybe there aren't.

So your best bet is to keep playing and getting better, but have a backup plan.

  4. Seems to me your good so far but you never now you sound good to me :)

  5. It depends. I spend alot of time on the cape and know there d-3. Your size frame is good. But all the players you named WERE NOT BORN ON THE CAPE.

  6. Dude, I was the best player on lots of different teams as a teenager. My .650 batting average was proof, not opinion.

This means jack schit for making it pro. There are ten million other 15 year old kids out there who are the best player on their team because they play in a league that is a lower level of talent than they are.

If you're so good, then keep practicing and go get some recognition from college or pro scouts and see what happens. Even if someone on here had seen you play we still wouldn't be able to tell you if you are good enough to play pro baseball.

You really need to ask Buzz Jockington this question.

  7. I wish you the best of luck. Stay healthy work hard, don't be so cocky, you're only 15, my little brother is 17, sucks and is still the best on his team. Hit the cages, practice practice practice and you have a chance.

  8. Only if you work hard and stop asking questions on Y!A about this, if we had any real knowledge about your potetnial then we would not be on this site we would be sitting at games with a radar gun.  If you live on the Cape then you know that those players are brought in from Colleges around the COuntry to play in the league, the scouts are not going there to "find" the talent, that talent has been found they are going there to peruse through the talent that they already know about.

  9. Well, I think you have a shot. Scouts like players who play more than one position. If you are good as you said you were then I think you have a legit chance of making the show. Though High School is different than College, Minor Leagues, and The Show. 17 RBIs in 14 Games wow that is amazing. Do you have any homers. It's ok if you don't. You live in the perfect location and I don't see why you can't make the show. Don't get your hopes up though. You have o practice and practice. Get better and better, work on your game everyday whether it is a long toss. Fielding drills, or batting. I think you can make the minors. Go to the cages and try and hit 85 then 90 then 95. Because the majors throw that fast. You just have to prove yourself. Good luck with  your baseball career.

  10. Oh this is a new one. Instead of wasting your time asking pointless questions like these, go out and get some work done. Do drills, go to a local baseball training center, academy, whatever you guys have out there. You need to WORK. Don't think you can go riding you Little league accomplishments and make it somewhere. I'm sure that far better players than you have done the exact same thing and failed to make anything of themselves. The only thing you can do is work as hard as you can and hope someone thinks you've got something.

  11. I'm pretty much exactly like you, being the best on the team, but not bragging.  I got the game winning hit in our first game, and I threw a shutout the next game.  I pitch. I'm 12 years old and i am shorter. I throw 60 MPH and i'm only 4 Feet 7 Inches
