This goes around every time there is a steep rise in gass prices - there are emails, etc. to encourage people to only buy from one company or to boycott another.

The problem is, if you study basic economics, it won't help.  The price of Oil is dependant on many things, the most important of which is the supply we have available - the last person to influence the price is the company selling it to you.  It all starts at the oil well.  Unfortunately there is no way to change that.
