  1. Common sense tells me to wear a helmet ! But I'm not a little kid...

All it will take is one crash to change your mind. Would you play baseball without a glove ?

  2. both. a caring parent should recognize both the benefits and potential hazards of any sports activity and ensure that their kids are properly prepared. by the same token, too many parents dont. in these situation safety rules [laws] need to be implemented by the autorities. organised sports address this, because they don't want some kid's parents suing for failing to protect them from foreseeable hazards. organized cycling groups will require helmets for their events, but most of the time were on our own. common sense says yea, there should be a law. all this said, when was the last time a ticket was issued to a helmetless rider, or better yet a bike impounded. we don't even enforce violations of traffic laws..

  3. How about both, and let's add peers. Common sense would be great. We don't have it in the USA per se, parents would be great but not every family is the same, thus the government steps in and tells us not to drink and drive, to wear seatbelts, and which states have motorcycle helmet laws. You can read-up on this easily by looking at motor vehicle safety research. I would say that you should do your homework, in a library with a librarian, on a library search engine, not google, look up bicycle, helmet injury and same with motorcycle.

Visit a head injury rehabilitation facility, realize that your taxes pay for these injuries (they're not bad people with the injuries) but you will see that anyone that can step in and prevent senseless injury is doing us a favor and the potential next victim.
