No, I think it is fine how it is. I am in college now and the work here is much more difficult that back in high school and middle school. You may not think your homework helps you but it really does. And trust me teachers don't do it to make you suffer :)

I understand the merit in independent study, but seriously, school should NOT cut into your personal life EVER. I hated homework in highschool and I hate it in college. 100% agree with you

Yes! We suffer from school and we have to suffer even more at home doing homework! And all the teachers can do is boss us around! I say less homework pronto! =)

teachers should not give so much homework, they should give more quizes(sp?) all homework does is reinforce knowledge you've obtained... so if you didn't learn anything then all you're doing is losing points again 'cause you didn't do your homework. if you give quizes then you can figure out if your students are strong enough in the subject to move on.
