  1. Yes because when you are driving drunk you have a minimum of 4000 pounds that you are not in control of and what you do will change the lives of you as well as the victims for the rest of every-ones life...................

  2. Nah, In America they face pretty harsh penalties already... And if they kill somebody while they were driving drunk, they face murder charges... I don't know how much worse it could get.

  3. yeah because they know that drunking is against the law but they still do it and might kill innocent people and do no have the will to say no if in a party with friends, so i pretty much think that drunk drivers should at least get more punishment to make them realize of what they have done or who they killed/who might have died, not harsh but something to make them realize.

  4. I think anywhere in the world they should, my dad died from it and it really hurt, but it was his own fault he was drinking and driving, and its just a horrible thing because it hurts everyone, and some people that have not even been drinking get killed from stupidity.

  5. in australia it is okay, I assume you only hit the kangaroos anyway...

but if it is in the city, I guess it could be more serious.

  6. Yes everywhere there should be harsher penalties because it kills people.  I like to drink myself but when I feel the need to go "out on the town" it is not that much trouble finding someone to agree to come and get me when I am finished partying, there is no excuse to drive in that condition.

  7. Yes and No....depends on how drunk, how often,  do you remorse, will you do it again,  do you need the law to tell you to stop !!

  8. my freind recently went to louisiana to visit family traveling from missouri, on the way back in central arkansas, her mother (grandmother) had her kids in the car in front, she was in the second car. she had to watch as a drunk driver hit her mother and all three of her kids head on, he was traveling down the wrong side of the interstate, with his headlights turned off!!! nevr saw it comming. only thing he could think of was to get out and take a p**s. all three kids and the grandmother died instantly, so ummn yea, i think there should be a stiffer penalty, but its a little unorthadox.

  9. i think that every ware should be like canada

yes canada 1st offence dwi 24 hr licence suspension car impounded

2nd 6 mounth licence suspention and a few days in room to

thimk about it and 3rd offens car is seazed and sold no matter how much your car is worth its your falt and a 2 yr licence suspension it alll seems pritty harsh but when famileys are being destroyed because of some ones selfishness it isnt it justice .

  10. Yes. My reasoning being that my friend has had two OWI/DUI and he STILL drinks and drives. My best friend died due to drinking and driving. My friend who has two OWI's doesn't take it as seriously as he should. He was very careful and didn't drink and drive. Then he would have two beers and drive after being at the bar for an hour or two, now he has 2-3-4-5 beers. Not only have I seen my friend not take this seriously, I have seen others the same way. Apparently, people do not realize how many people are killed a year because of drunk driving. Most people have SOMEONE that cares enough to give them a ride when they have been drinking. People need to have some responsibility and call a taxi if they have had two much to drink. More than 1 beer (12 oz) per hour is too much, no matter what the law says.

There were 16,885 alcohol-related fatalities in 2005 – 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.

So my answer to your question is yes. I believe that if someone doesn't learn their lesson the first time and gets a 2nd OWI, they should have to spend 30-90 days in jail. I think a second offense should also come with a $5,000-$10,000 fine. I believe that money should be put towards drunk driving awareness programs in schools and communities to prevent this horrible and very preventable type of tragedy.

  11. lol. i bet ur doing ur health hw/assignment.

    im from aus to.

and yes, they should have harsher punishments, for drinking and then deciding to drive, putting others and themselves at risk of dying or getting severe injuries. that one stupid choice can ruin so many lives.

  12. I'm in the United States but I see no difference when it comes to DUI's. I feel the first time offense laws are adequate but the 2nd, 3rd time offenses should be even stiffer because they don't seem to learn and seem to kill or seriously hurt people. These repeat offenders are a menace to society I'm sorry to say and need some serious rehabs.

  13. h**l yeah. In N. America the laws are a joke. Basically there's no punishment. Canada is even worse than the US. Kill someone while DUI and you'll probably be out of jail in less than a year. That's a FCUKING JOKE. I think 10,000 people die in the US every year because if drunk drivers and nobody says nothing. Thousands of forever ruined families that will live in pain for the rest of their lives. And of course billions in losses. What are the politicians doing about it, NOTHING.
