if shaq would have retire after 2006 or 2007, shaq would have still have the good image as the center who dominated the league for a decade...but nowadays shaq had torn his own image by doing stupid things in desperate to keep his limelight...

barring catastrophic injury the decision to retire is the hardest decision most players will ever have to make...you've been playing since you needed a box to use the water fountain in the gym, most if not all of your inner circle are players and staff, your entire life is a cycle of preparation and execution and NOW what are you supposed to be doing with the rest of your life...

YEAH it's sad to see some of these guys hang on too long...but at least they are leaving the game that they love on THEIR terms....

Ha, you're right. It's doubtful that he's going to win another championship. The Suns are advancing in age, and their chances are getting slimmer and slimmer as the days go by.

As much as it hurts to say this, he should just retire.

Shaq torn his image?  So who made you the judge?  

As far as I can see Shaq is still one of the best center in the NBA when healthy.  Of course when he is not healthy he can't do much.  But that goes for every player.

So Oden, Bynum, Yao  and all the injured player should just retire right?  That's what you are saying.

You can never erase history. Shaq will become a HOF regardless of the way he ends his career. Evander Holyfield should retire because he messed up his perfect record, but basketball players don't have anything to lose.

I sorta agree with you!! He was still a huge likable guy and kinda a hero for winning again even without Kobe. Now everyone talks trash about him and thinks he's nothin but a waste of 20mil. But I still think Shaq at least has one more good season in him and not EVERYONE hates him I mean he can possibly restore some of his image if he manges to take the Suns to the Finals (then he would have taken every single one of his teams to the finals). It isn't that impossible to do the Suns are an amazing team who has more talent then a lot of teams could hope for they just need to channel it or something. I think he has juice left but lets see what he does with it this season.
