  1. I like the Phillies-Marlins better. I know this is off-topic, but the Phils-Fish are so much alike with similar SS,2b, etc.

Although, I do agree that the Mets-Phillies are indeed becoming a very heated rivalry, very quickly.

  2. Yes they are and watch out The Phillies are 4 games back of Milwaukee for the Wild Card Spot.

  3. well it depends

this season and the past few, yes they have been

but the braves were always a factor in the nl east

i would say some more years of this and it will become a serious rival

    Go Phils

  4. I'm a Phillies fan and I can say that the Phils and Mets definitely have a rivalry quickly growing in intensity. Both teams are very, very good. And both have similar flaws. They both have WS potential, and contrasting strengths that can push them there. They are better than the others in the division, and they, I think, will be on top, one or the other, for the majority of the coming years. The fans already hate the opposing team and their fans and hate to see the other succeed. I'm glad to have a rival team, it makes for a more interesting season.

The Braves and Mets rivalry has died completely, other than the fact that they, of course want to succeed. I wouldn't call them a true rivalry anymore. A rivalry is when you actually hate a team, both ways. While the Braves, I'm sure, hate the Mets and hate that the Mets are more successful than they are, I don't think the Mets see the Braves as much of a threat, if at all. A rivalry has to go both ways

Good question, simple answer but good question. haha

Mr.baseball0101, have you ever been to a Phillies-Mets game? Ha You are as far off as you can be. They typically end with the winning team's fans mocking the losing team's fans, telling them their team sucks, to eff off, and occasionally ends up in a drunken 30 person blood brawl. Yes I've seen it, and yes, this rivalry is extremely heated.

  5. Let's hope so. I'm not a fan of either team, but rivalry makes the games that much better and more intense.

While I usually think of the Braves as the Mets' main foil, I think a rivalry with the Phillies is better from a geographic standpoint. Philly and New York are closer than New York and Atlanta and there are already existing rivalries between New York and Philly teams. (Giants vs. Eagles, Rangers vs. Flyers.)
