  1. No. Come on they only have like one show right? Nah. Unless they do something big like have there own fragrance or something i doubt they will reach the top

  2. yes.

they are definately the most skilled female players and occassionally even serve faster than men. i believe that taking a break was good for their tennis career, it helped them keep interest in the sport.

the williams sisters are the best.

  3. I definitely think so. They both made it to a finals, which we haven't seen in years but more importantly Venus defended her title. No one has defended their title in the past couple of years besides Henin at the French so I think that's says something. I think they are becoming more consistent. The biggest obstacle in the Williams sisters career has been injuries, if they can continue to remain healthy, I really do think they can both rise to the top.

  4. I think so.... With Justin Henin gone, Amelie Mauresmo having injury worries and Maria Sharapova blowing hot and cold, it surely is time for the American ladies to take centre-stage..

Ana Ivanovic is one big threat, though...A player for the future.

  5. Yes did you seehow well they played at wimbliton

  6. Well I would argue that just because they're rankings aren't num 1 & 2 doesn't mean they aren't the best players in the game.  Clearly they don't play as many tournaments as the other women, which is why their rankings aren't higher.  However I still believe that no one in the top five is better than the Williams sisters.  Ivanovic is good, but I don't think she is mentally as tough as Serena.  Jankovic just isn't consistent.  Sharapova has a few good wins over the sisters, but when both are playing their best, she's no match.  Heck who else is there?? :-)  Everyone talks about Henin and while she was a good player (doper :-)) I the head to head numbers say that she wasn't better than them. Most of her slam titles came on clay and we all know that she was the clear dominant clay courter on the women's side.

I don't think they will ever be number 1 & 2 again, because it's clear that tennis isn't their lives, and I commend them on having other interests.  But they are still the best players in the women's game.

  7. Yes they seem to be making their way back to domination, as the only player that could challenge them was Henin and she retired...i don't think theres anyone in the top 10, the Williams sisters could vanquish on their day. With consistence and focus, i believe they could stage a come- back.

  8. I think they definitely can, but I'm not going they will. Who knows what will happen? I think if one of the Williams sisters (hopefully Serena) wins the gold at the Olympics then it would be plausible to say she's on a comeback.

I agree with SJ...Henin was not their only competition. I wouldn't say the top 5 women are a huge threat to the Williams sisters, but I definitely think Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic are definitely challenges.

  9. yes

  10. it remains to be seen. remember in years past when either would come through in a slam, they would predict their rise back to the top and it never happened. they would have let downs and just would never show up in the next tournament and even match. they've just been too spotty in the last years for me to really believe in any kind of newfound resonance.

that said, too, have some of us completely forgotten the other competitors? henin was NOT the only girl who stood in the way of venus and serena. whether you want to believe or not,the top 5 girls are still incredibly dangerous...particularly for some kind of williams sisters dominance since a couple of them do have a few wins over them.

  11. Nah, 1 solid slam does not a top player make.  They do well every Wimbledon, which is why they won 6 out of the last 8, but it doesn't mean that they are playing any better.  Last year Serena won the Australian Open and Venus won Wimbledon, but they were still barely able to hang on in the top 10.  They don't play enough to come back to the top spot.

  12. yeah definitely. william sisters are the ones who bought the power games in women's tennis. Venus, currently wimbledon winner and won 16 grand slams before and serena having won 4 grand slams simulatenously are undoubtedly coming back to top position which was altered when their sister, price died in 2003.

  13. No. They are getting older (26 and 28) and you can't stay in the game forever.

Plus, Ana Ivanović is an extremely good player. And Jelena Janković.

  14. Yes its True.

  15. YESS, i mean its been five years since a william sisters final and 5 years since they won a doubles title together, doesnt that say something? Serena has only lost 4 matches this year and has been injury free and hungry as ever. They may be slowly coming up but they still say they have a bunch of years in them
