  1. I think that with the tech. of nuclear weapons that it wouldn't be much of a world war, and if it did happen we all wouldn't live to talk about it.

  2. Only if the next United Statesian president is Mc Cain, clearly he is in a rush to declare war against somebody. He knows that United Statesian presidents get reelected during wars.

  3. Georgia? No.

But if an emboldened Russia decides to continue down this track the danger of hostilities would inrease.

The real concern now is the disputed region of Crimea in the Ukraine, which Russia has long coveted. A conflict between these two large countries has a much greater potential to entangle NATO and the US.

The conflict with Georgia was over two extremely small regions : Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Population-wise they are about the same size as the other tiny dots on the European map : Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, and Andorra.

Hardly anything worth fighting a war over.

  4. h**l yeah. Not only that but it will be nuclear, and once china and iran choose sides, it's all going south. Hopefully we'll have the since to stock up on missile defense and shelters, cause we're going to need them.

  5. Interesting Question. I think Russia were waiting for the Georgians to take back South Ossetia.(Originally Georgian Territory) that lies on the Russian border.

This then gave the Russians an excuse to attack Georgia. The Russians are making an example of the small Georgian army to tease the western world (especially USA).

Georgia was the third largest contributor of troops to Iraq just behind the UK and USA. This would make Georgia an alloy of the United States.

The United States have replied by agreeing with Poland to build missiles on the Polish borders aimed towards Russia. In Exchange USA has provided Poland with various Military materials.

Russia has now threatened to storm Poland, but in order to do so, they would have to storm Ukraine which lies between the two countries.

USA would not stand by while Russia attacks Poland(A Very Close Alloy), this very well could result in WW III in the coming years. But the odds are it wont as all the nations involved in the current conflict are members of NATO.

If it was to result in a war between the two nations, Russia would most definitely fancy their chances because the US Army are currently bogged down in silly wars all over the middle-east that they are struggling to win.

Can You imagine the consequences against A Huge Military Army such as Russia, who are almost as advanced as the US. With nearly Triple the amount of troops !

  6. Possible but very very unlikely.

  7. I am reminded of the start of WWI. It began with a single assassination that turned into a world war because of a series of alliances that countries were obligated to uphold. The US is obligated via treaty to protect Georgia in a war....

  8. No probably not a World War, but Cold War II  maybe.  We might also get into a series ov Vietnam like conflicts over the old Soviet block nations.. Not really a war but sending in "advisor and support troops".  Untill it escalates that is, then it is just an undeclaired war.

  9. Russia and US won't attack each other by infantry marines etc. The only damage that US or Russia can do to each other is with airplanes or missiles no one is crazy enough to invade it will lead to a certain defeat. If Russia teams with Iran against Israel then Israel is probably finished if you consider the Arabian nations who don't like having israel in their neigberhood. In the subject Georgia invaded and killed 2000 women and children in osetia before they were torn apart by the Russians I am sorry to say this but Russians did have the right to responde. Putin must felt like the us in pearl habour attack from nowhere. Anyway i think NATO in the very likely to happen case of WW3 will prevaill but China will be a huge questionmark during the whole conflict.

  10. no it's over with it's a political thing now.

  11. could it?  yes.

would it?  probably (and hopefully) not.

building one base in Poland can't p**s off Russia too much, since we already have NATO bases in former Soviet republics.  besides, I thought it was the missile defense deal that had the Ruskies all fired up.  no, Russia was just looking for a way to achieve three aims: 1) intimidate any other former Soviet republics that have been thinking about broadening relations with the West, 2) remind the world that Russia will not be ignored, and 3) remind the world that the Russian bear never died, and is still a potent military force in enough respects.  this will not become a WWI-type scenario, where alliances drag the world into war.  the worst that can happen is that Russia will continue invading other countries until finally NATO is dragged off its lazy economic *** to oppose the aggression.  THAT would probably result in stalemate, then withdrawal.  I'm surprised that many of the above answers mention nuclear weapons and/or world wars as possible outcomes.  I'm also surprised that someone siad that Russia had the right to escalatingly respond to Georgian stupidity (which it did NOT); Russia suckered the Georgian president in, and he was dumb enough to fall for it...

just as a point of interest, many what-if scenarios in the combat flight simulation game Lock On: Modern Air Combat for PC center around a conflict involving a resurgent Russia roughening up its Black Sea neighbors, including Georgia...  the game came out half a decade ago...

  12. no this is just a peace keeoing mission 4 russia and the us can only complain and impose sanctions on russia

  13. No.  It will all go back to normal after the elections.

  14. i think this reminds me of world war one with hitler took over europe and invaded polland

  15. it's an indirect start of ww3.  sides will be chosen.  we are putting arms in eastern europe.  russia will counter by putting them in cuba and/or arming isreal's enemies.  this is part of the slow beginning.

  16. No.  Russia will team up with Iran and Syria to try to take out Israel.  They will lose.
