  1. No and Yes.......

No because he really helped the offense and they could of won another one with him

Yes because I feel like if a player does not want to play on my team than I would trade him I would of gotten Ryan Howard or someone better

  2. No. It was a bad decision. They didn't need Beckett that desperately because they were just three years removed from a World Series win.

They could have built a dynasty around Ellsbury, Pedroia, and El Nino..

But now? They've got a one or two year window left....

They gave up 10 years of contention for ONE world series win...

  3. yes. he stopped playing and the turmoil between the rest of the players was effecting their game as well. he wanted out. good. hes out.

  4. no. he is one of there key players why would you wanna trade him.

    but whatever it happened.

  5. good trade for sox.

you don't have to worry  about manny quittting in sept.

they were not going sign manny. bay they have this year and next.

plus no more  c**p about manny being manny. he the worst of the overpaid players. he signed a contract now he wants out.

  6. it was not really a choice but it was a bad thing that it happened. I've grown up with this guy. My cousin's first word was manny. He was chanting along with everyone on tv. it just seems so wrong not having him. this guy was the heart of the team. He made the sox so much better. I wish he was staying.

  7. Yea, this move was good for the team. In the last month Manny was playing carelessly and making stupid plays. He wouldn't run out ground balls and didn't play solid D. In the end Manny didn't want to be there and the team just got too much of Manny being Manny. Now they have a great player in Bay who was more or less the same as Manny. Bay has more home runs and similar RBI numbers. The only alarming number is his .282 avg. where Manny is hitting .299.

  8. He's been a cancer on that team for a good while now, but then again, he did help them win two World Series titles even when he was still being labeled as a cancer.

  9. No, because I think they made their line-up weaker with Bay.

Yes, because at least they got something for him instead of just cutting him loose and the end of the season.

  10. ...Dumb decision!!!!!!!!! RED SOX ARE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE was their SPARK PLUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. noo there wont make it to the playoffs stupid

  12. Yes. He is a headache. They got Jason Bay who is a solid player and will fit into the clubhouse perfectly.

  13. it was a good decision because the whole situation was a huge distraction to the team. jason bay is a good player and the sox have him for next year too. the sox didn't give up much considering the fact that manny was a huge headache to the team and they weren't going to sign him anyway. yeah, they could have gotten draft picks at the end of the year but i would rather have bay. craig hanson wasn't working out for the sox and moss is a decent player but the sox obviously didn't have him in their future plans. overall, i think it was a good move and as a red sox fan.... i'm glad they did it.

  14. Alright, let me tell you people why this a really good trade for the red sox. I'm sure none of you are from The Burgh like i am and havent seen how good Bay is. First off he is a much better fielder than manny, second he is 29 opposed to a lazy 36 year old in manny, Bay has more homeruns and stolen bases, and the best yet he hasent even hit his prime yet when manny is well past his. So just watch the next few years Bay will be a key reason for some more rings in Boston.
