No because noone will aid Georgia. They fell into Russia's trap.

No, nobody has the balls to help Georgia. So Russia will get away with decimating Georgia, and soon there will be a new Georgian Prime Minister who is Pro-Russian. So the problem will be solved.

Probably this thing will end up into a rough pre-war status quo once again, with the relations between Russia and the West soured very badly.

The deeper Russia moves into Georgia Proper and the longer it continues it's operation, the more difficult it's international position will become and the worse it's relations with the West. Russia is alienating itself from the West, the EU and the US.

Other former USSR countries will probably try to strengthen their ties with NATO and the USA even further. Russian operation in Georgia will not frighten them back into Russia's sphere of influence, but alienate them even further from Russia.

The US missile base and radar facilities in Poland and the Czech republics will definitely be built after this, and this time with support of the general publics in both countries.

There will be a some sort of Second Cold War. This is apparently what Putin (the real leader/dictator of Russia - Medvedev is nothing but a puppet leader) really wants. He wants as much of the old Soviet Union back as he can get, no matter how many bodies there will be.

They got into war because georgia responded aggresively to a seperatist movement in Ossetia, trying to re-integrate it into Georgia. Russia in turn invaded Georgia out of re-taliation. There is some speculation the russians armed the seperatist movement in order to get a reaction from georgia so they could invade and take over the oil pipeline, or something like that.

However, this conflict mainly remains whithin the area, it won't spread out. Putin is simply playing games by showing russia's military power, and stressing its superpower image once again, while at the same time contrasting the weakness the  US has on foreign affairs.
