  1. The name is actually " The Old Folks At Home" by Stephen Foster. AKA " The Swanee River". There is nothing racist about it. He simply misses his family and home.

Way down upon the Swanee River,

    Far, far away,

There’s where my heart is turning ever,

There’s where the old folks stay.

All up and down the whole creation,

    Sadly I roam,

Still longing for the old plantation,

And for the old folks at home.

    Chorus

All the world is sad and dreary

    Everywhere I roam.

O brothers, how my heart grows weary,

Far from the old folks at home.

    2nd verse

All ‘round the little farm I wander’d,

    When I was young;

Then many happy days I squander’d,

    Many the songs I sung.

When I was playing with my brother,

    Happy was I.

Oh, take me to my kind old mother,

There let me live and die.

    3rd verse

One little hut among the bushes,

    One that I love.

Still sadly to my memory rushes,

    No matter where I rove.

When will I see the bees a humming,

    All ‘round the comb?

When shall I hear the banjo strumming,

Down in my good old home.

  2. can't say

  3. I think they should leave it alone.  They changed so many things to accommodate minorities,  foreigners and anybody else that is sensitive that I wish I could get the heck out of here.  It really annoys me that you practically have to learn Spanish to get a job in Miami.  So, on that note, I want them to leave the song be.  It is a cool song and part of the history of Florida. (My family came here from Italy).  Everyone speaks English.  just a rant

  4. well why don't we just change everything in the world that might offend someone. just leave the freakin' song alone. this "we can't hurt anyone's feelings" way of doing things that this country has now is just freakin' ridiculous!

  5. I don't care , I don't live there , shoot I live in AZ and I don't know what ours is

  6. I dont think it should be changed, but hey, what the government wants, the government gets, right?
