Do u think they were making fun of me?

Question

I'm very soft-spoken and shy at work and I get teased a lot. Nothing malicious tho. I know it's all in fun. So, I had been teased about not being a big drinker and not being drunk every weekend like most people. I was a little embarrassed and kind of lowered my head. After this, one of the women I've opened up to chimed in the conversation and told them how I'll drink every so often though. I had my head lowered but smiled when she said that, then nodded in agreement, because I will drink every now and then.

I left the room for a few minutes and when I returned, the woman who stood up for me was smiling a lot at me.

What do u think that meant? Do u think they were talking about me when I left? Do u think they were making fun of me?

Dont act ashamed or embarrassed that you dont get drunk like they do.  They will pick up on that and play with it.  Not necessarily to be mean, more so because your better behavior makes them feel bad about their own behavior.

No, I think the one sticking up for you was smiling because she so wanted to say something to your immature and heartless co workers. Good for her. You don't have to be one of them, you are there at work, not high school!

i tell people i only drink in church (communion,lastsupper thing)

you should ask them why they started drinking in the first place and i bet it was to be with the "in" crowd

you have a especially happy life i think and you should be glad you don't need to forget your issues with your self and you can face for self sober.

i espect they might have thought that you would be losened up if you drank and do crazy things.#

theres a saying "its all ways the quite ones" its kinda ment in affection.

in my faith john the baptist never drank any alcohol and he was and is the greatest er 'just a man' that ever lived.

probably because you sound exactly like me and people have done that to me before. whats funny though, is a lot of them are alcoholics or got knocked up on one night stands and are going no where in life. i have a college degree, my own place and do not live off the government and i'm younger then most of them. s***w them, their just jealous that you don't find in neccasary to be obnoxious and drunk all the time and they are too small minded to know any different

Who cares. The reason they give you c**p is because they know it bothers you. If you stop letting petty comments get to you, i guarantee you they will find someone else to s***w with. When dealing with some people the only way to get their respect is to be bitchier than they are. By the way, if a girl is saying something rood to you, just look her dead in the eyes and say "i'm sorry I don't speak w***e" yes its mean but it works every time.

If they were talking about you when you were gone, it was not in a bad way.  If it were, she would have avoided eye contact with you when you returned.  Since she was smiling at you a lot, she was probably either trying to boost your confidence from the earlier conversation (you said you lowered you head), to let you know that everything was OK, or they had been talking about you when you were gone, but in a good way - like "that Leah, she's so shy - I bet she's a lot of fun when she does drink a little, and she's so cute - but she doesn't even know it!"  something like that.  :-)  If they were making fun of you, she would have felt guilty when you returned and she wouldn't have even looked at you.  And that's a fact, Jack!
