its stupidity, stubbornness, no place to go, and they don't want to lose all their possessions

I say most will leave

personally i think after this one we should just clean up the destruction and not let anyone live there anymore

if you can't say somthing nice don't say anything at all. why would you ask this in the LGBT section anyway, we get kicked out of our homes for being g*y. a hurricane coming doesn't make others budge... whatever.

They already are evacuating to the point where ALL highways leading to and from the city (eastbound and westbound) are on a one way program out of it.

nooooo, it's not ignorance, some CAN'T leave, and others, well, there's more harm to leaving than benifits. though they might and probally are doing a mandatury evacuation.

btw, ur in the wrong section, and why are u being mean about it? that's their home, it's hard to leave sometimes.

To some of us it's bewildering that a community can go through so much and lose everything and yet turn around and rebuild time and time again with knowledge that it's very likely it could happen again. The truth is they aren't thinking that their city is a sinking catch-22 caused by man's attempt to control nature, they aren't thinking I'll make it unlike the approximately 1,500 that perished during Katrina. They are thinking this is their home. The place they've lived for generations. Where their grandparents and great grandparents married and raised them. The reason it seems to you that they are ignorant is because you aren't them. You can't understand their strength of spirit, but maybe someday you will.
