Do under 18s get taxed in the uk?

Question

i started a job today and i am 17...i am earning on a salary basis and it is full time.

will i get taxed?

if so...how much?

what is national insurance?

can someone please explain to me because i am VERY confused...

Yes you will pay tax on all earnings over £5435 per annum (£105 pw) at 20%.

National Insurance Contributions  will be at 11% over the same limit.
