Hi, I am going to be going to melbouren australia and i was wondering since were gonna be in an airplane for 18 hours if it was ok for me to bring my laptop on board

Yes, it will be ok to take your laptop on board.  Three important factors to remember: you must take it through security (x-ray machine) at the airpot, how long long does your battery is good for, and finally which you want to verify when you get seat assignments is were are the jacks located on board.  Maybe you can ask to be reassigned your seat to a charge port seat.

Verify with the crew when is ok to turn it on.

Any airline allows laptops (at least any I have been on). However, you may not use wireless as the signals can intercept or interfere with the equipment on the plane. If you want to write up something or play games, bring the laptop. The wireless connection is the only thing you have to worry about.

yes you're allowed to bring laptops on airplanes anywhere, I fly all the time and i bring mine every time. You just have to make sure that the wireless is turned off.
