I'm still in high school and I have taken two classes at a community college and I was wondering if Universities will look at my grades when I apply or if they only look at my credits. What are the grades that they usually accept (A, B, C, ect.)?

  1. If you took college classes for high school credit, it will appear on your transcripts. And yes, they will look at your grades.

And, depending on which school you're applying to and what classes you took, any grade C or better is acceptable. However, the better grades you got, the better you'll look to prospective schools.

  2. On your application they will ask you the grades that you receive all four years of high school i believe. I remember when i was filling mine out i had to first put down the classes that I took (and they were very specific about it being either honors, AP or otherwise as well as the name of the course so make sure you have a printout of your transcript in front of you). Once you choose your class you will put down the grade that you received each semester. I believe that they only calculate your sophomore and junior grades to get a GPA. First semester of senior year might count...I'm not sure or dont remember. If you took a community college course it probably will be on their list and you can put it down--like a foreign language class that might not be at your high school. You also have a choice of saying where you took a particular class for the UC application.

I was in your situation and took several college classes before I applied to the UCs in california. And you can put down any grades that you received although it would be bad if it was an F or D. Otherwise it's fine. But in the case that you did get an F i hope you know that you didn't have to transfer that grade to your high school transcript. And in my situation the UCs didn't look at your high school transcripts when you applied. All they wanted was the grades and after they accept you, they will ask for an official transcript sent to them (sealed in envelop). They will probably use that to check your senior year grades to see that you didnt get any Fs and Ds. And btw I'm sure you already know but community classes do boost your GPA alot if you take at least one class per semester. The credits that you received will be calculated into your high school transcript and will add to the overall credit points. I dont remember exactly if mines asked for that...but as long as you have enough to graduate that should be fine. Universities pretty much look at everything that you did in high school from a shift in grades to even part time jobs or just babysitting jobs if it shows responsibility and hard work.
