Do university students get holidays?

I guess it depends on where they are in school, but they almost always get holidays of some sort.  For one thing, the faculty, too, need their holidays, and we also need time to prepare for and wrap up from the term.  Our students usually get three weeks off at Christmas, with the faculty spending that first week grading, and the last week writing syllabi and other activities in preparation for the new term.  They also get a week off during Spring (in the U.S. no one gets three or five weeks off at Easter that I've ever heard of).  The summer, then, is usually optional, as it is assumed that most students will need to work in order to be able to afford the rest of the year, although our graduate students are on a year-round schedule.  I also find that while we don't get many of the holidays off that federal institutions and banks get (President's Day, Columbus Day, etc.), we tend to get a few days off that others do not (Cesar Chavez Day).

Yeah they are allmost allways on holiday!  They have allready brocken up for summer, and wont be back till september!

Loads- I got 5 weeks this Easter, about 4 weeks for Christmas, and usually 3 months over summer! Too much!

I got four weeks for Christmas, four weeks for Easter and three months for Summer.  I got a job though, you need it to pay for all the fun during term time!

Yes they do - 2 or 3 weeks at Christmas/New Year and 2 or 3 weeks at Easter.

They start the Academic Year September/October and finish in May.

Absolutely University students get holidays, but not always on the actual day of the holiday.  Many teachers will let the students decide to show up for a class on a holiday, or make it up on a Friday or weekend.  I know what I would likely do.
