Do vegans kill flys?

Question

I mean, why should insects have to suffer horrible deaths when cows don't?

If you don't harm bugs, what would you do if your house became infested with them, what would you do? Move out and let the next owner call the exterminater?

If you keep your house clean you should really have no trouble with bugs.  

We keep our house very clean.  We get the occasional fly though...everyone is bound to.  My husband catches them and puts them outside.  He has always had a talent for catching them with his bare hands.  Flies are not harmful to humans...They are actually beneficial.  If there were no flies we would be up to our ears in carcasses.

We also have several spiders.  We are more likely to name them than to kill them.  When I see a spider I check a website to see what it is.  If it's harmless I ignore it.  If it's not, I put it outside.  I have only every found one harmful spider...yuck...The rest are just regular run of the mill house spiders.  They are also really beneficial.

if there is one or two flies, try to open the door and scoot them out.. otherwise kill them.. there are WAYY more flies in this world than cows.. and some of them need to die SOMETIME.

I don't kill spiders (I'm a vegetarian - not a vegan).  I catch them in a glass and put them outside.  I live in a place where there are not a lot of bugs - but at one point we did have an ant problem.  I tried to get them to leave by putting down chalk lines - and providing water outside.  It wasn't working at all.  So - then - I told them to leave (this was ridiculous - I know - but it was for my own psyche) and told them if they didn't - they would be killed.  They didn't go - so the exterminator came and killed them.  sigh.

No, i dont believe they do. I think they respect all sentient beings however I asked a similar question a while back about if vegans kill nits or worms if they catch them. They all said they did but only because they cause physical pain or discomfort.

No, vegans don't kill flies. I don;t know where you heard this but they are way out of line!

some do, some don't.  being vegan dosn't mean that they are good to animals.

i know people that are being trendy and turning vegan but still buy leather, suede and other animal clothes.

it is their personal choice

Yes.

If a vegan has insects in their house, which may be harmful to their family, they will get rid of them.

And before you post your next question- yes, vegetarians eat animal crackers, and no, plants don't have "feelings."

I would put chalk around areas where they enter. it wont kill them, but they dont like walking across it. Bugspray doesn't kill them if you wear it

Well I don't like to kill any kind of bugs any more but flys are so annoying. I usually will kill them cause my house is always flooded with them! But I will let them out if they are near the door trying to get outside!

Being a vegan means doing all you can to minimise your contribution to animal suffering.

Endangering your health is not required.

Flies are filthy and spread disease. I'm vegan and yes I swat them. If cows came into my house uninvited and vomitted on my food and my family's food and stamped it in, then I'd have to consider the best way to get rid of them too. But they don't.

If you followed a fly for an hour, you wouldn't eat for a week. From piles of dog sh*t or a dead mouse, straight to your food. Only a fool would feel sentimental about them and refuse to protect him/herself

i've always wondered that too haha.

im a vegetarian but i swat bugs all the time. unless their bugging you, im sure they dont kill them but im not quite sure. :)
