i'm curious, because fruit's aren't vegetables...

I also don't get how you get all your nutrients when meat is part of the food pyramid?

Also, it shocks me why you guys don't eat meat.

is it because you think it's wrong to kill animals for us to eat?

because i swear i learned that they kill animals because it's overpopulation and so we just eat it because it's part of the life's cycle.

i dunno..

just curious

  1. Ya know, it's really hard to believe that someone could actually believe that vegetarians eat only vegetables. But I'll explain. Think of the "vegeta" part of the word as referring to "vegetation" or plants rather than "vegetables" or only that type of plants. Does that help? (I'm sorry, but I have to ask... what do you think humanitarians eat? Yuk yuk.)

I might believe that we kill and eat animals ("we" meaning humans) in order to control overpopulation if animals weren't being bred in massive quantities in order to produce animals to kill. (The control we have over overpopulation is mostly the fact that we're causing it.) Hunting for food and raising domestic meat are two entirely different things. I also think that the animal overpopulation argument is somewhat overplayed... we're seeing more and more carnivorous animals winding up in people's backyards and trash cans. I'm inclined to think that most wild animals avoid humans if they have food sources (deer, etc) readily available.

The life cycle is a totally natural thing. However, the way we raise, obtain, and use meat is far from natural. So I don't buy that a MacDonald's burger is really part of "the life cycle." If you go out hunting with a spear and shield and risk life and limb, sure. Then it's the life cycle. But driving to the store to buy a tray of ground round? You're kidding yourself.

  2. hi :] it sucks, because you're just curious, and people can be so rude, but...

vegetarians do eat fruit. they don't just live off of vegetables, they don't eat an animal, or meat.

there are several ways for a vegetarian to have a proper diet. yes, meat is in the food pyramid, but it's not correct to say 'it's part of the life cycle' because that's not true. just because we can eat animals, doesn't mean we should.

there are also several reasons for a person going vegetarian, and one is to fight animal cruelty. animals don't have to be killed, and the way they are is most definitely not pleasant, drug 'em and slice them up. in the sources, i'll put a video for you to watch [or a few] on how it really works

also, animals most definitely don't overpopulate the world, and the only reason there are so many is because the demand for meat is so high. if there were more vegetarians, then so many animals wouldn't breeded, so the statement going against this one: 'a vegetarian saves animals lives' that says 'a vegetarian keeps animals from being born' is FALSE.

hopefully, you'll watch these videos and take them to heart, and go vegetarian for the animals, your health and the environment. i know you didn't ask for it, but i'll include some links that will help you along the way if you do decide to go veg [if you watch the videos]

i loved meat too, but quickly gave it up and now i don't wanna go back.

  3. Hoo boy. Let's do this one at a time.

    1. Vegetarians don't eat meat or slaughter byproducts. Nothing had to die for you to eat fruit.

    2. There are vegetarian and vegan food pyramids, too. There is nothing nutritional in meat that cannot be found in a plant based diet. Most people eat meat, so of course it's going to be on the food pyramid. But really, it's not meat that's necessary- it's protein. There are plenty of protein rich foods besides meat.

    3. Why is it shocking? I'd like to see what you think of veganism or raw foodism.

    4. Vegetarianism is hardly a rare or radical thing anymore. Some people aren't okay killing for food. Others are vegetarian for health reasons.

    5. No, eating meat has nothing to do with overpopulation at all. Animals killed for food are bred specifically for that reason. That, to me, is disgusting.

  4. Yes, fruit is a large part of a vegetarian's diet and they get their protein from beans and legumes -

  5. yes vegetarians eat fruit.  fruit is not meat, vegetarians don't eat only meat.  vegans don't eat any animal. vegetarians don't eat meat because they don't believe in killing animals just for the purpose of eating them.  there are other food sources that we can live on.  and even though meat is part of the food pyramid, you don't need it to survive.  you can get your necessary proteins and nutrients from the other food you eat.  usually vegetarians are very healthy people, so they don't have to worry about not getting nutrients.

and vegetarians doesn't mean you don't eat vegetables??  u said "i'm curious, because fruit's aren't vegetables..." well that's not whatthe word means.  it sounds like it, yes, but you eat vegetables when you're a vegetarian, just not animal meat.

    hope i helped...

  6. Please educate your self  people like your self  bother me and I do not want to call you stupid and no one will judge you if you eat meat  that is  your choice just like it is ours not to  why would we kill an animal just to  please our self's its selfest to have any thing suffer  just to consume and besides  their are benefits  that go along with being a veggie. we have  no cholesterol problems no heart problems no high  blood pressure  well some might  if their eating  freezer foods loaded with salt  one more thing to educate you these animals are slaughtered inhumane way chickens  are always  treated terrible be for they are slaughtered  contact the American HumanSociety they will show you films that  has been taken by  undercover people  please do not believe for one min of over population that's just not true  they kill and slaughter calf's be for they are one year old they keep the cows in small stalls inject them with harmons to fatten them up quick  than when they get sick they inject antibiotics in them   and all that  stuff  that goes in to the animals   guess what   you are consuming all that junk that is  put in  them  you will never have to ask again   I think I hit on almost everything

  7. They sure do

And you don't which is why vegetarians are stupid [[no offense]]

  8. Vegetarians don't eat animals.(cows, pigs, chickens, fish, shrimp, clams)

    We eat everything else.

If you are REALLY curious, you can watch Earthlings to understand where  meat from a store comes from and why most of us refuse to eat it.

You seem new to the subject so it would be good for you to understand that meat is not necessary to be healthy, strong or anything else.

I am vegan but I support people that hunt animal populations that would end up in a disaster otherwise since their natural predators are extinct or nearly extinct(within the region or altogether). Either way, I don't treat people differently no matter where their meat comes from.

  9. The food pyramid is Malarky!   I am a vegetarian I eat fruit and other vegetables..  There is much more protein in spinach or broccoli or brussel sprouts  than in a slab of dead carcass you call meat and meat is recycled protein!

the healthiest animals don't eat meat.. rabbits, cows,  horses!  If meat was part of the food chain how come those animals don't eat meat?   You meat eaters than eat meat  you're dead in the mind from eating dead carcass..  Dead meat is dead animal and that is death.. you are what you eat!  If meat has any protein its used protein cause it's already been processed through an animal!

  10. Vegetarians don't just eat vegetables. They refrain from eating meat.

Vegetarians can still get the meat part of the food pyramid when they eat peanut butter, which goes in that category (even though it's not from an animal). Vegetarians can easily follow the food pyramid.

Vegetarians don't eat meat (from animals) for a variety of reasons.

As far as animals being overpopulated: They are bread up to large numbers on purpose for slaughter, to make food. Their overpopulation is actually caused BY the meat/dairy industry.

I eat meat from animals, by the way. Just figured I'd be able to answer your questions even though I'm not a vegetarian.

  11. I am presuming you are a troll – which would be better than my other presumption of you being an ignoramus.

The government include meat in the food pyramid because it panders to the meat industry. Who in turn give billions in “donations” (bribes) to the government every year. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch years.

Vegetarians / vegans get their nutrients from fruit, vegetables, beans, pulses, seeds, nuts and grains.

Obviously too much meat consumption has made your brain all mushy.

    .

  12. yes...

why? there's nothing in meat.   just fatty proteins and maybe enough iron to write home to your mother about.

veggies and fruits  are more packed with minerals and vitamins.. here's a registry of that information.

so,  you fell for the meatatarian myth about vegetarians?  not surprised.

and there's been vegetarians for thousands of years.. why all the fuss suddenly?

    heh,   neverfreakingmind.

  13. Yes, genius, we do. Anything with a face, we avoid.

    Get it? Got it? GOOD.

  14. Yikes. Are you opening a can of worms or what?

    You're new here, obviously.

First off, who gives a fig what someone eats or doesn't?

And DUH they eat fruit.  Is fruit made of meat????
