i'm quite a strict vegetarian and have finally got rid of all my leather things and replaced them with non leather products when my mum bought a very expensive leather suite, she's replaced ALL the seats in the house with leather so i'll have to sit down sometimes and i just wonder, do most vegetarans not wear leather?

  1. If you are so concerned about using animal products you 'must' stop using oil, except vegetable oil.   petroleum is a product made from the remnants of compressed vegetation and some remains  of those cute little dinosaurs that were so cruelly exterminated ' some how'. So pour corn oil into your car engine and maybe oilve oil in your gas tank.

Vegetarians must not believe in God.  Why would God create humans to be omnivorous ? Why would he create certain animals to depend on the meat of other animals in order to survive.

If you don't believe in God , then why does "right and wrong" matter to you??

I think vegetarians are Nut Cases.

  2. Some do, some don't.  Vegetarianism can be a dietary choice or it can be incorporated into a larger lifestyle choice.  Especially since *you* didn't buy the furniture, sitting on a leather seat doesn't make you less of a vegetarian.

  3. depends how strict you want to be. vegans cant, but vegetarians can if they want.

  4. Vegetarians for health reasons wear leather but not vegetarians for animal rights. Since you still live at home you have somewhat of an exuse as long as your stuff isn't leather

  5. being vegetarian doesnt really effect what you wear/use/etc

but i don't see the point in supporting animal rights by being vegetarian, but still wearing leather haha

i dont. but its a choice

and good job replacing everything! :D

  6. They shouldn't I my opinion, but I guess vegetarianism is more of a diet than anything else. A vegan certainly wouldn't wear leather as it is more of a lifestyle than a straight veggie. When I first went veggie, I threw out all my leather and was disgusted with myself for having owned such leather as wallets and belts and guitar straps etc. Leather is horrible, I hate verything about it. Do you know that they soak the animal skins in s#it and p#ss to help remove the hair? Gross Out!

  7. Some do and some dont it is personal choice though i dont personally understand why anyone would refuse to eat an animal but then wear it's skin.

  8. its depends. people who do it for the animals dont, but those who do it for health might.

  9. I'm trying not to ... trying to phase out all my leather stuff.  I need to make it clear to my family NOT to buy me leather stuff anymore, though!!

  10. Well it the vegans who wouldn't wear leather nor wool. Vegetarianism is about your diet.

  11. If ur a real vegetarian no they do not

  12. Vegans exclude animal flesh and by-products from their lives. Vegetarians may not do this because they're not in it for the animal's sake. Also, vegetarians don't go into the whole process a vegan would to find out about all the animal products in everyday things because it's not convenient to most.

If you feel the leather is wrong, talk to her about it. If you don't feel right sitting on her furniture, just get your own chair and use that. When your mother asks why you won't sit on her couch, explain why. As bad as I think it is to have a leather couch, it doesn't stop animals from being slaughtered for any reason and the couches are made anyway. It's up to YOU. What feels right to you? Do that.

  13. Some vegetarians do, but some don't. It's not always a matter of "wanting" the leather products. It can just be they can't afford to replace everything at once. I know for me, I try to make veg friendly choices in the things I purchase now, but I may still have a few things that are in good condition that I can't afford to replace at the moment.  As I am able, I will.

  14. Like mockingbird said, it is a choice.  I feel there is a big difference between putting something in your body and having it in  the house.  I do not drink beer, but I do cook with it occasionally and I always have it on  hand for when friends stop by to visit.  When I was a veg during college, I still  wore my leathers.  I simply did not eat meat.  I couldn't afford it, didn't care for the texture or flavor of most meats and I knew it was less than healthy.  However, NOT wearing my leathers was also less than healthy as I drive a motorbike.  I was not going to sacrifice my safety for another person's idea of how a veg should dress.

If you are vegetarian because of health and dietary concerns, sit where you please, wear leather if you like and never mind what others say.  You honestly don't strike me as the sort that would gnaw the furniture, so there's nothing to fret about.  If you are vegetarian because of animal rights concerns, well, don't buy leather furniture when  you move out on your own.  What your mum does with her furnishings  isn't on you at all.

  15. it depends on what your a vegetarian for, if your a vegetarian because of animal cruelty then its kind of hypocritical to judge others for wearing fur but your wearing leather boots, if your a vegetarian for reasons other then that, then yea its okay,
