Do video tapes get destroyed when they go through the x-rays at the airport?

I brought two tapes back with me from Europe and I can't get them to play. Does this have something to do with the x-rays? And if so, how can you avoid this because your luggage is always x-ray scanned?

  1. No, only actual film for a camera will get destroyed.


  2. No they dont ....

    -video tapes are magnetic which is not destroyed by x-ray...but,it may be destroyed by heat

    -i also tried it alot with bags full of tapes and they r all ok
