Dumb question really, I just heard that they get less because they mostly rely on tips.

  1. its depends on the restaurant entirely. more expensive food....higher bill.....higher tip. more money. if its a small independent restaurant im sure they get payed less then in a big successful possibly chain restaurant/ nice restaurant.

  2. yes, they take the average amount of tips and pay them that much less. then they are required to declare how much they got. just another way of sh*tt*n' on the little people

  3. Yeah, they do get less than minimum wage. Most places pay about $2.15/hr. Then they take out the taxes you owe from that...so sometimes you don't even get a paycheck.

  4. they get payed about $2.00 and get to keep there tips but if they don`t get to keep the tips they usually get paid more

  5. no, they don't get minimum wage...I think they should though.

  6. It depends on where in the country you are.  Here in Kansas we only get 2.13/hr. so we live off of our tips.

    :D

  7. Where I live they get $3.16 /hr. they do rely on tips. But if you work at a good place you can really make a lot of money.

  8. I am a waiter and I get something like 2.13 an hour.

Here in Virginia, you have to at least make minimum wage with your tips (on top of the 2.13) or the company you work for, must (by law) raise your hourly wage.

And besides, the 2.13 (give or take) goes right into taxes anyway...so we rely solely on the tips that we receive.
