  1. HVAC Tech.: My units have washables and i like them because I am cheap. When I want to clean them I can wash'em Not buy new ones.I can do it weekly or monthly as I need to. A garden hose with a hard spray nozzle while I hold em up against the wall, or in the bottom of the tub. Just don't squeeze the water out , let'em drip dry. Good luck.

  2. They work well when used correctly. The media manufacturer recommends you use filter spray to make the aluminum media easier to keep clean and keep odors down in the home. I have been using washable filters for 5 years. All I do is take it outside and hit it with the water hose, shake it out real good and put it back in the register.

  3. I tried them and didn't like them. Besides, the paper ones do a much better job of filtering out the tiny stuff from the air.

  4. ah, yes and no. it kind of depends on your sensibilities and lifestyle. allergies, dogs/cats, smoke etc...i just use those cheapo blue fiberglass ones and change them every 30 days.

also, some filters are too thick for your blower motor and will restrict air flow over your coil.
