  1. True distillation evaporates the water and condenses the steam into a clean container or vessel, leaving behind most or all impurities. It also removes most of the taste, too, but the water is pure. Filtering the water can do the same thing, if you use a reverse osmosis process, and it's faster and cheaper than distillation.

    Distilled water isn't as healthy for you as regular drinking water or hard water since your body needs the calcium and other minerals that distillation removes from the water.
