Question:

Do we already have the solution to global warming?

Somehow there is this pervasive idea out there that somehow we need to develop this technology. With just a modicum of research it has become obvious to me we've already had the solutions for some time but have not put begun to put such solutions in action.

"I'd put my money on the sun & solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that." Thomas Edison, 1931

  1. Solar has great potential and they're making progress as bringing down the cost/kw, but it's not yet ready to handle all the worlds energy needs.

I think hot rock geothermal could probably meet most of the US energy needs in a few decades.  There's no nuclear waste, no unsightly towers on the horizon, no concern about cloudy or windless days.  They basically drill 2 holes into hot rock, pipe water down one hole, and use the steam coming up the 2nd hold to drive well known reliable steam generators.

  2. Solar still needs some development before it can replace all our energy needs, which are enormous.

We should continue to develop and deploy solar (and wind) but the "off the shelf" technology that can do the heavy lifting right now is nuclear.  It's a necessary bridge to the new world.

  3. great quote!

the california solar water heating industry peaked in the '20s when it was overwhelmed by the dash for gas.

  4. All you've got to do is bottle it and market it.

  5. IF it weren't for the oil companies lobbyists in Washington DC, we may very well have implemented these programs fully decades ago.

  6. there's plenty of solutions that would do a lot to at least help. but no one wants em. People are too fixated on money and how much cash they can save by being even filthier

Electric cars, cleaners industries, hydrogen, solar, wind power are all shunned as some "liberal hippie agenda" and never used.

I don't understand it myself. People complain about the prices of oil, gas and coal, but then they complain even louder when offered a good alternative :/

  7. Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-New York) leases a Cadillac DeVille for $774 a month with taxpayer money.

In defense of his taxpayer-funded Cadillac, Rangel says, "The car isn't just a vehicle for getting around; it's an important part of doing my job, and my constituents appreciate it."

But why not question the mindset of a congressmen who complains about oil companies but drive around in gas-guzzling automobiles.

Such members of Congress should be doing more to lessen America's dependence on foreign oil -- and those congressmen who do otherwise are being "hypocritical."

IF you'll try my experiment it will show you how to lower the oceans and to allow nature to return to normal naturally. it takes alot of people from all ocean countries and if this project is funded I'll add a temporary sand tsunami destroyer to each continent thats helping to delete global warming. http://www.inventube.c0m/blog/view/59/th...

  9. Yes it's called www.iceagenow.com

Oh and check out T.S.I. Total Solar Irradiance (sunspots have more control over the temperature of our planet then ANYTHING mankind can do)

  10. Yes, I agree. We have already made many solutions that are certain to work if put into action. The problem is that people aren't willing to change for the good, for the better of the world. But, well by the time their willing to do it because it's seriously affecting them, it'll probably be too late. Because there are thousands or maybe even millions who are presented facts of global warming, but yet don't want to accept the truth.
