Do we as a race have a moral imperative to improve our environment?

To me, society determines our morality through a synthesis process which bubbles up from the majority of its inhabitants over an extended period of time.

So, society forms are moral dictums and one of them is environmental preservation.

Yes, as part of the human species we do have an obligation to nurture, respect, and improve our environment. The earth/environment gives us life, nurtures, and supports humanity as we know it.  The give in take should be on both sides is we are continue to live as one on Earth.
