Do we have Mental Telepathy?

Question

We at most use 5% of the brain.

Is it not possible we have other abilities as well like mental telepathy..mind over mater...not just 6 senses but maybe a dozen.

but due to the way we have been educated we have shut this away and forgot how to use it.

It may be that some people have senses that others do not, and that those senses are not recognized because the majority of people do not believe they can exist.   People who have never seen might not believe that others can see if only one in ten thousand could see.   People who are deaf might not believe that there is sound if only one in a hundred thousand hear.   And people who do not have telepathy might not believe that anyone has it if only one in a million does.

It could be.   And it could be that we have senses we do not recognize ourselves.   Think about taking an exercise class or engaging in a new physical activity:  Have you ever thought "I have pain in muscles I NEVER KNEW I HAD."

Aspects of spacial relativity infer that telepathy could be possible.

Think of electronic transmitters and receivers, electrons moving around in certain ways emit EMR which the transmitters and receivers work by.

Now think of the human brain which thoughts are basically electrons moving around. It doesn't take a leap of genius to work out that electrons dropping energy levels in the brain could emit EMR, which could be reformed in someone else's brain as the thought that produces the EMR. QED

Let' say we use 100% of our brain. I doubt you use 100% at any one time. Is it still possible for you to learn new facts and skills like historical dates and mathmatics?

So if mental telepathy is a skill it can be learned and if it's a human ability every one can develop it. Of course the ability to learn to play music will not make you Mozart. Human performance and skills will always differ by individuals and circumstances (being in the zone versus having an off day).

I agree that many people have been taught to not believe (or not look into say for religious reasons) particular areas or subjects. In fact some research (Robert Sternberg) suggest that too much expert knowledge on a subject can greatly stifle your creativity in an area. Although you have to have some knowledge of an area before you can be creative.

That said the best evidence (so far) for telepathy is the automated Ganzfeld experiments that have success rates above chance (33% where chance is 25%) and all reasonable precautions have been taken to assure adequate controls and statistical analysis. First of all, the term is just "telepathy", as saying "mental telepathy is redundant.   Telepathy means the mental exchange of thoughts.   And YES, we absolutely DID have amazing abilities long, long ago before aliens messed with our DNA and dumbed us down.   But with the coming Ascension and the Golden Age of earth, our abilities of telepathy, clairvoyance and many others will return.   We do use only about 5% of our brain capacity, and when that is increased, we will have more abilities that would be considered super-human now.   It will happen within hte next few years, and those who are not ready, will not experience it.

As Peter said, it's a myth we use only 5% of our brain. All 100% of our brain matter is already dedicated to specific neurological functions, but not all parts are in use at all times.

Mental telepathy isn't a skill, like learning to ice skate. There is no evidence that the brain is capable of doing anything as extraordinary as telepathy, so it's naive to propose that it's simply a matter of learning.

The best evidence so far for telepathy is the Ganzfeld experiments, but that is not saying much. Regarding the Ganzfeld experiments (the originals and the autoganzfeld), the best that can be said about them is that they are inconclusive and the worst that can be said is that they are examples of sloppy science. Psychologist Ray Hyman stated that the autoganzfeld experiments were not conclusive nor did they duplicate earlier results:

"I concluded, and do so even more strongly now, that the autoganzfeld experiments constitute neither a successful replication of the original ganzfeld experiments nor a sufficient body of data to conclude that ESP has finally been demonstrated. This new set of experiments needs independent replication with tighter controls." - Ray Hyman (1996)

We have it.  I believe you have to be trained to realize your receiving it.  Sometimes you read historical accounts of military strategy and it's evident that the best generals in history have analyzed all the facts and made the final move with good intuition ( maybe not telepathy ).

In fact we ALL have the ability even though a vast majority of people would say that "NO WAY" they don't.  Human beings are capable of what we call amazing feats (actually not amazing at all - just undiscovered abilities in most of us) and all it takes is an open mind, a lot of practice and a calm, untroubled mind to open the door to a vast new world of possibilities.  That's the fast, easy answer of course  - to answer succinctly but completely I would have to write a book for you but there ain't the space here...however, there ARE many books on this subject and some of them (among the dross) are well worth reading.

We do have mental telepathy but I think it may be produced by evil. Maybe its spiritual rather than mental. As far as I know the kindest of intentions from the sender always end up twisted and terrifying to the reciever.

Modern measurements of brain activity have shown that at any given time, only about 5% of the neurons in a human brain are typically active — which is a good thing, since the unchecked torrent of electrical activity resulting from the simultaneous utilization of too many neurons in your brain could cause a seizure. Using common sense — and a little education — you can logically deduce that the idea of humans using only 10% of their brains is ridiculous. Your brain makes up about 2% to 5% of your body mass, yet it consumes 20% of the body's resources, such as oxygen and glucose. If such an organ worked at only 10% capacity, that would be a highly inefficient system. It is unlikely that such an organism would be fit enough to survive natural selection and generate offspring that would evolve to be the dominant species on the planet. Additionally, a sheep's brain is approximately 10% the mass of a human brain; if we only used 10% of our brains, we wouldn't be much smarter than a sheep. Hmm — in this case, perhaps those who make this claim really are only using 10% of their brains.

So the next time someone tosses the "we only use ten percent of our brains" tidbit in your lap, here's a handy reply to counter with: "No, you're using the whole package...you're just working with faulty equipment."

We do not only use 5% of our brain.  Who told you that?  Please provide specific citation of that little assertion.  I can assure you that it isn't true.  Even if we did only use 5% of our brain, what makes you think the other 95% can reach out into the world, disobey physics and make things happen?

It is indeed *possible* that we have mental telepathy.  However, is it *probable*?  I say that given the total and complete lack of evidence to suggest that we do, coupled with the mountains of negative evidence that we don't, it's not very likely.

So the only reason I can't read someone else's mind is because I have been educated out of it?  (Or did I forget how to?)  I don't know how to address this claim.  You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.  The only thing we've been educated out of is illiteracy, ignorance, superstition and stupidity.  To imply that education--a process which is responsible for use using *more* of our brains--causes us to use less of them is preposterous.
