Question:

Do we have a ghost in our home?

I moved into a new house about 3 months ago. There is a small family cemetary in the front yard that dates back to early 1800, maybe 6 graves at the most.

One night a few of my friends and I got out my Ouiji board because they had never seenone. They wanted to mess with it, outside the house of course, I don't let the board go in my house just in case, so we played for a bit, the only thing that happened was it spelled out "Jack" when we asked its name.

Now, about 1 and a half months later we have been experiencing some things. We are not positive it is ghost-related. Our cell phone batterys drain unexpectedly, we heard a sound almost every night that sounds like someone is beating on the outside of the house, and once while I was in the bathroom the ceiling fan light switched off by itself, from the actual light source, not at the wall switch as the fam blades never shut off.

I have also recently started having dreams about a girl living in my home that isn't mean but does scare me...this could be just that the thoughts are in my mind and transferring over into my dreams.

I'm not sure f it is a haunting because we haven't actaully 'seen' anyone or had anything terribly frightening happen....any thoughts or suggestions? Be serious please as I am becoming afraid to stay there without my husband home.

  1. Don't be afraid. My husband once told me something that made me a lot less afraid of ghosts:

Ghosts used to be real people just like us. They're just a little confused.

If you're feeling a presence, talk to it, like a person. If you're frightened, ask it to kindly leave.

As long as you don't let things get hostile, they usually will not.

    One of my ghost stories:

My husband was very sick with the flu one night. I was laying next to him in bed and I felt a presence. I opened my eyes and saw a woman standing next to his side of the bed. She looked like she was from the 30's, with a house dress and apron on. She was dabbing my husband's head with a cloth and looking very concerned. She didn't frighten me, I just thanked her and went back to sleep. In the morning, my husband woke up feeling a little better.

The moral: Ghosts aren't all that bad.

  2. Ok I believe u. Go find a ghost finder or something then ask them if u r  a medium. U may not know what a medium is but go ask them anyways. Do not show them that u r scared of them though ok. Everything is going to be fine.

  3. it is possible that there is something going on but there is also some explanations for that might be happening. like the drained cell phone battery. some cell phones get their battery drained if you only been talking on it for 5 minutes. (mine starts to get drained like that) or the banging on the house could be something hanging outside your house that bumps into it when there's a breeze. just like the ceiling fan could just be bad wiring or something messed up.

there are also some reasons to believe that there are spirits. some spirits are known to drain energy sources. such as cell phone batteries or even flashlights. my cousin used to go in a underground bunker on a old army base (its now a state park) and whenever she would go down there her flashlight would die when they were new batteries. we even went down there with a group of 5 people and all of our flashlights were starting to go dead after exploring for a few minutes. some spirits are even known to play tricks. they may not be threatening but they do like to play tricks to get fear. they feed on our energy. positive and negetive

just showing 2 sides of an argument. you cant always assume its a spirit because a few things happen

  4. what you could do is lay out a notebook of paper and a pen or pencil and say out loud "if you want you can write on this paper" see what happends....like leave it out at night and then ask

  5. If you are worried about it try contacting a local "Ghost Hunters" type group in your State and see if they can help.  Also, if you are Catholic (and maybe even if you aren't) you can call your local church and ask if the priest can come to your home and do a blessing of your house.  You don't have to tell the church secretary you might have a ghost, just say you would like the Priest to do a blessing.

We have similar things that happen in our home. A feeling that someone is in the room with us.   A whole shelf of books leaning to the left have fallen all the way over to the right on their own.  TV's have turned off and ON by themselves.  I once saw a shoe sitting on the floor lift up off the floor by itself. Once when we were just sitting and watching TV a video tape that was sitting 1/2 way out of a turned off VCR suddenly slid into the VCR by itself and the movie started playing!   Odd things, but not enough to really scare me.

What probably happened was you opened a door allowing the spirit to come into your home when you used the Ouija Board.  Not really a great idea.
