  1.   It is making reference to the spiritual Israel the 144,000 that are going to rule with Christ.

  2. To understand any scripture you must first ask the question who is the first written to. The answer is to the twelve tribes of Israel. James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. The next question is when will this doctrine apply? It will apply when God is dealing with the Nation of Israel again and that will be in the tribulation period. The anti-christ will be on the earth and they will be suffering great temptation. James 1: 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; There faith will be tried so they can endure until the end of that period of time. James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. James 1: 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Now they should ask God for wisdom and help in this time of testing. James 1: 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Remember the Book of James is not doctrine for the age of grace where we are to consider what the Apostle Paul writes to the church (the body of Christ) for we are not part of Israel.  2 Timothy 2: 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 2 Timothy 2: 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  3. How can you miss the point?  All wisdom comes from God who is the only one to know what is true wisdom.  We are too small, too short lived, to simple to know all about something and therefore know what is true.  God knows all and has revealed His truth.

  4. I can't answer you question because I don't know what your understanding of James 1:5 is.

James' jewish audience recognized this as the understanding and practical skills that were necessary to live life to the wisdom contained in the pure and peaceable absolutes of God's will revealed in His Word, and lived out.  Only such divine wisdom enables believers to be joyous and submissive in the trials of life.

God wants believers to have a greater dependency on Him.
