  1. By "we" do you mean the US? If so the answer is yes. In any group within society there are problems and issues; we are living the highest standard of living in the world and still growing.

    Again the answer is YES.

  2. Take an example from the immigration groups.  They band together to create severe pressure and push guilt to anyone who disagrees while being heard everywhere.   Any group can including a underground group ready to rise.  It is all psychologically motivated to make others do as they please.  Today is law day and watch our new indepedence day is coming sooner than july fourth.  Why do we celebrate for other countries besides using it for marketing purposes.

The best way to govern yourself is to use your purchasing power to regulate who does what within the economy. The next is to stick together within communities and then states so other states and communities do not get all the say with federal laws.  Not all things work the same in each state or area due to natural condition and population.

Follow your local laws and if they are unfair attend a monthly meeting of your local government and say so.  See your representatives and take a active participation with what you know and percieve to them. How else can they make laws fair to everyone?  They need to know what you want.  vote for who helps you and your area.  Be fair in determinining what is right because sometimes what is right is tough to swallow.  Be honest with yourself and then get out there and say something.

  3. Since this is a Democracy it is up to us people to ultimately make the decisions. However, incompetence among some people in our population along with the media's attempts to dumb down America are making the dream of true Democracy increasingly a fable. Unfortunately I believe our society as a whole is poorly equipped to govern ourselves. As much as I hate to say it, the only answer for our country lies in a strong central government that is in opposition to our current government's values in order to reverse the damage that has been done in recent history and in fact through American history -- Communist scare, Vietnam, Iraq Occupation, current economic crisis, energy dependence on foreign oil, etc... the list goes on

  4. Well it's a democarcy, so in a sense we do govern ourselves.  But really no, too much greed and a few bad apples can ruin in for everyone else.  That questions can be answered in many ways.

  5. Looking at the world around me, my own brain answers "No, we are not governing very well."

Others look at the world in a different light than I.

"Man is capable of living in society, governing itself by laws self-imposed, and securing to its members the enjoyment of life, liberty, property, and peace." --Thomas Jefferson: Declaration and Protest of Virginia, 1825.

How do you see the world?  Is the governing working out for you and your family?
