Why is Brad Pitt and other silly personas making news headlines?

Why is all the serious news being pushed in the corner and replaced by fruitless studies and opinionated editorals?

  1. I guess it depends on what newspapers you read and news/current affairs programs you watch.  The tabloids are always going to publish the inane and superficial and make issues with the sensational.

  2. the media panders to it's readers/viewers, so you can see where people's priorities are.

  3. I've traveled the world, and only in north america (and west europe) is the news like that. The majority of places actualy report real news, you'll see people dying over and over again, that it gets boring. But the differnce is, where you live, everybody is fighting for as much viewers as they can get so they start switching to what excites people, wheres in most of the world, the lack of competition for viewers make the news more serious and true.

  4. Oh, we won't have to wait THAT long... Bush's bombing of Iran should get Our Attention- pretty quick!  :)

  5. No, it wouldn't make a difference anyways.  Brad Pitt, fruitless studies... will always take precedent over what is relevant.  The majority of people are complacent and do not like to hear the truth.

  6. No, even something like that will take the celebrities off the "news". Find alternative news outlets, and leave the fox/cnn behind.

  7. I think it might have something to do with the type of news broadcasts you are watching. I am sure you can find a news broadcast that will have relevant world news that you can tune into (I am based in Australia and for us it is SBS news), the news on the commercial network stations is rubbish, but that is what most people like so the masses keep tuning in to watch the rubbish and the stations keep creating the rubbish.. it is a vicious cycle!
