  1. Yes and no. You could spend your life worrying about all sorts of things that may or may not happen in your lifetime, but it will not affect whether or not the thing actually happens.

Wondering whether there is going to be an asteroid impact is like wondering whether there will be another thunderstorm. Of course there will be, sooner or later.

But, even though small objects hit the Earth's atmosphere all the time, most of them burn up before hitting the ground.

And even though it is certain that a large asteroid will one day hit the Earth, it could be thousands or millions of years in the future, so you don't really need to worry about it today.

However, if you want to encourage governments to spend money on cataloguing large interplanetary objects which cross the orbit of the Earth, well that is probably not a bad idea. Proper funding of such programs may just save life on Earth...

  2. Of course! We just had a very close call the other day:

  3. yes we are every day hundreds of asteroids hit earth bu burn up but depending on its size

  4. well you kinda have to explain what you are worrying about. Without comets, our world would have no water, in which then, life would cease to exist. But They estimated a comet of that magnitude wouldnt hit the earth in a couple thousand years. So if you were worried bout experiencing one... dont be

  5. It's pointless to worry about things over which you have no control.

We are regularly "buzzed" by small asteroids that could easily destroy a city.  The last time one like that hit us was in 1908 over Tunguska, a remote area in Siberia.  It's estimated the Earth experiences such events about once every thousand years.

If worrying about such events gives purpose to your life, go for it...but you are a million times more likely to die horribly by some other means. (Car accident, murder, fire, drowning, terrorist attack, etc.)

  6. Well there is a asteriod coming and our scietist are planning to shoot a nuke. Just like armageddon story

  7. Just read an article on Yahoo that says there's a 1 in 500,000 chance of being killed by one. So the risk is there for sure, and in fact is more likely than being killed by a shark or dog attack.

  8. The asteroid to worry about is one called Apophis, which is going to approach earth in 2036.  Scientists reckon that there is about a 1 in 45,000 chance of it hitting earth; but there is some doubt as to how accurate that figure is.  This asteroid is about 270 metres in diameter, and not large enough to cause an extinction-type event; but if it landed in the ocean (most likely), then it would cause devastating tsunamis.  There was a recent articcle about it in New Scientist magazine.

  9. ya im clocking it... get under ur bed quick .. oh no.. heres it comes
