Do we have too much money?

I'm too young to remember the last ressesion, but some people are saying we have too much money these days. In modern Britain, people are depressed, frightened of everything and very pessimistic about the future. According to BBC news, 1 in 3 teenagers now self harm.

Obviously not everyone is rich, I don't really have any money and I live in the poorest area of England (Cornwall). Even so, people live pretty comfortably here.

Poverty in this country has more to do with the levels of gun and knife crime in specific areas than with money, although there is rising unemployment due to a genuine lack of jobs, even when the Polish immigrants are now moving back.

If we had a reccesion, would there be more creativity in music and the arts?

  1. I agree with you. Nothing else to say. I only did not know, that cornwall is considered to be the poorest part in britain. I used to live in lincolnshire. Well, british pound is decreasing and it worries me a little bit.

  3. I would not say we have too much money.  In America, I think we are not grateful for the amount of prosperity we have.  Our affluent lifestyle is taken for granted, we have so much wealth that we have to find and create things to worry about instead of being thankful for what we have.

I am not rich by any means, my family is about as middle class as it gets.  But I realize how good my life is and how wonderful it is that I don't have to worry and want for anything.
