  1. Nothing has been published on the AAIB site yet.

    I'll try again on Monday though.

    1/  Richard :- The last thing we need is conjecture and rumour.

    2/ Bikerwoo: - If the Rotor hit the tailboom then is was probably post transmission failure..ie, not the likely cause of the crash.

  3. initial reports said that the main rotor hit the tail boom.

  4. no. it has still only been said that it was a mechanical malfunction. i would like to know though. it was a real shame that the crash happened. he was such a good racing driver.

It is the general consensus of 3 professional helicopter pilots sitting in a room in Papua New Guinea that he most probably experienced bad weather conditions and lost control of the chopper (i.e. experienced loss of visual horizon resulting in vertigo), the end result being high velocity impact with the ground in an uncontrolled mode of flight. Hope this helps.
