  1. If you are talking about the UK, no we don't and can't under the Euro bullies.   We have not been "free" in my lifetime, just in 'open prison' which is now being changed to 'high security' for all but the rulers and their toadies.

  2. We have never lived in a Democracy, where have you been all these years? Democracy as it should be, as you described is a myth.

  3. The country is being turned into a PRISON for the honest, hard working and a haven for the criminal, the trouble with academics is they have no concept of common sense." Scholars never make successful business men and are seldom rich"

  4. From what I can see, democracy can very easily be swayed in a nanny state, when your leaders can convince you that they have all of your answers and that "everything is going to be okay".

  5. If this is about the US, here's a news flash- we never were a democracy.  The founding fathers didnt want anything as important as "rights" to be decided by "the tyranny of democracy."

  6. We, Americans, have never had a real democracy.  The US was founded and remains a representative republic.  Basically that means that certain people represent your interests in government, but you don't have an actual say.  If you think we're in sad shape now, you should read a little more about our country's history.  Look up some of these things: Teapot Dome, McCarthyism, Bay of Pigs, Shay's Rebellion, Wounded Knee, Trail of Tears, and then tell me that we're in bad shape because we pay too much for gas.

  7. Hi Celtic,

    Sadly, no.

My understanding of democracy is that polititions are our elected representatives and not our rulers.

It seems they are more intent on doing what they think is "best for us in our own interest" and "best for themselves" rather than doing what the electorate want.

  8. No!!  we never have and I doubt we ever will.

  9. We never have. We live in a Constitutional Republic. We don't even popularly elect our president, it's by the electoral college. Pure democracy is not really a good thing. It's mob rule, and it doesn't have any rules. In a real democracy, if 51% of the people think it's okay to wipe out the other 49% of the people, it becomes lawful and moral. Not such a good thing,

We NEVER lived in a democracy.

  11. The Labour Party have eroded whatever little democracy we had over the last10years through misrule!

  12. NO - we get one real say every 5 years (General Election) but the rest of the time the Govt can do what it likes and doesn't listen to us at all !!

  13. we never did. the U.S. is a republic.
