Do we live to remember "the ride?" (repost from dif'rent category)?

I asked this in a different category, but didn't get much response. I'd like to try it out here.

I recently watched the biography of the music group The Temptations and when it was over i was left feeling very disheartened. I kept thinking, so that's it? All that sacrifice and struggle to end up with bittersweet memories? That can't be right can it? Or can it? Is "the ride" the reason for living?

Synopsis: A couple of guys had a dream to sing together and made it happen. They produced incredible music, became famous, had money etc. Some of them squandered the money, got involved with drugs, became greedy and jealous and were either fired from the group or left of their own accord. One committed suicide. New members came and went, the group got older and started having health issues. Eventually the original group reunited. The reunion went sour and they disbanded once again. Now old, one by one the members died. All that survive now are 2 I believe. There's a scene towards the end that shows the guy who started it all (the dream) in his mom's house looking wistfully at the awards and pictures of the group and remembering a time when they were all on stage having fun. The End.

What do you make of it?

  1.    Well who the h**l knows that for sure ? I mean you can sit around pondering the meaning of life all day and miss out on the fun . Guess we will find out when we get there.

  2. Saw the biography and loved it.  I guess all I can say is enjoy everyday because you never know when it will be your last.  They had it all but didn't appreciate it like they should have.  That's life.

  3. To me,life is a journey. Some people choose a direction that's in entertainment, others a family life, some travel, some are totally unhappy & have unsatisfying relationshiops,& at the end of our journey, death takes us..What happens after that,I'll know in the future. What is it that you would expect for this group of talented people? You sound disappointed with their later years.

  4. life and death is a process... were all going to die.. and not everyone is going to get wat they want out of there life.. some people do.. but really.. wat the temptations did have was greater then some .. they experienced things that not alot of black singers did.. or singers in general..

basically we shouldnt take life for granted.. because it could always be worse.. live life to its fullest and be  happy with it.. make sure u have lots of love.. and care.. and do wat u want to do.. before ur time is over..

  5. all I can say is that in the end, it's not the things that you had or have that matters it's how many lives you touched in a positive way...how many friends you have truly touched; how you have treated your family; whether you have lived your life with honor or not....
