Do we need a mililtary draft?

No, we have an all volunteer force that just celebrated it's 35th anniversary. Neither candidate is suggesting a draft and the current speaker has tabled any discussion on it.

I don't understand what party you are referring to but no major party in the states is suggesting this idea.

yes people say an all volunteer force, what about the back door draft they are doing stop loss. when you enlist they trick you about your irr obligation.  then when you try to get out your stop lossed.  on my last deployment half of us were stop lossed.

It isn't really right to be able to draft national guard and keep them for however long the government wants them.  I didn't even believe it was true when I first heard about it.

I don't think the number of volunteers is working well enough.

I wonder if it would be fairer to go to the draft...

Maybe it all won't be necessary if we are truly pulling out of Iraq???

Did McCain mention the draft possibility?

First off, the maximum score you can get on that test is 99. Secondly, that is a 20 second easy prep test that only estimates how you might do on the REAL test. The idea that the military is full of dumb people is just ludicrous. I received a 126 for a GT score, and I joined the Marine Corps infantry. I guess all of my buddies were idiots too eh? A draft would cause more problems, not fix the existing ones.

Without a draft, all you really get is idiots and rednecks in the army.

If you seen the news, with the torture, time and time again....its rape and torture....

WHY do you think we are making so many enemies overseas.

They are shooting at anything at moves.....

A draft would allow intelligence to swarm the rank.

h**l, I went to a marine recruiter office for the h**l of it....and i got a 100% on the test. It was a sad test. It was like elementary school stuff....

I didn't join because I'm an only child...but still.

The problem is, we are fighting c**p wars. A draft is only needed when the security of this nation is threatened, and if it is....most people will take up arms themselves and form a militia.

What angers me most is that women want to get paid and treated equally as men.....but the problem is....girls...we, men....have to sign away our lives at age 18 and you DONT !!!

I think that we do, its time for others to kick in and help. Our troops have had too many years of fighting and need the well earned peace of home.



If Russia is looking to do war I know we need it.

Who wouldn't oppose war, but it comes to every generation.

I did 14 months in Nam that was plenty, I was drafted and did my duty with pride, as did thousands in WW2 and WW1.

To the fine troops of today, we who came before you love the USA like you do and if asked would do it again.
