  1. If you are a US citizen you don't need a passport to come to Canada regardless of the method of travel. However The United States Government requires you to have one to get back into the United States.

If you plan to stay in Canada you do however require a visa. If you don't have a visa and are not allowed back into the USA you will have to live forever on that narrow strip of land between the two countries.

  2. To FLY to and from Canada, you must have a passport.  To travel by LAND, you need a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate.  After June 1 2009, you will need a passport for any mode of travel to and from Canada.  See site below.

  3. You need one if you fly. In the summer of 2009 be prepared and get a passport if you plan on traveling, it will be required. As of right now, if you drive in all you need is a birth certificate and a drivers license.

  4. It's best to carry one anyway, needed or not.

  5. now you dont but i think in a few months or starting in 2009 you will need a passport

  6. If you are a Canadian or a US citizen and you are driving, you do not yet need a passport.  Your government issued photo ID such as your driver's license and your birth certificate to prove citizenship will do it.  If you are flying you need a passport.
