Do we need that many Ambassadors/High commissioners around the world shrinking into aglobal village?

having too many Ambassadors in foreign countries cost the exchequers very dearly . the question is do we need that many with so many successful NRIs ?

  1. Good question.

    In this age of email, videoconferencing etc most face-to-face meetings are a waste of time and fuel.

    They are mainly photo-shoots nowadays.

    Private research institutes do all that foreign depts can at half the price.

    Its a paradox that you dont need embassies with your allies, and your enemies don't listen to your ambassadors.

    To be fair, some consulates are helpful to confused nationals overseas.


  2. Yes -- there is no substitute for face-to-face contact -- electronic info from unknown sources is a pretty unreliable way to run things, yes?

  3. do you know what is the main duty of A/H

    they are Indian representative to look after the security of the

    Indian Living there.

    technically A/H  office is a Govt of India  office and under  the

    international treaty  the no one  has right to enter  the  place

    N.R.I   wants more office - in every big city  of that country.

  4. Yes. i believe so. A Global village would require more communication between people. The Ambassadors are the official designated points for contacts for this purpose.
