  1. Always be skeptical that you aren't being told everything (by the government).  It's a world of fighting and conflicts; I do always pray that my government will keep me save in what appears to be such an unsafe world.  What I take from this conflict is Russia asserting it's power and displeasure of democracy.

  2. I am an Englishman browsing Answers USA and i would like to play Devils advocate and remind Americans of recent History. It was announced that the USA had done a deal with Poland to station missiles in Poland (Which borders Russia) I remember a certain US president threatened to start WW3 if the Russians based missiles in Cuba. South Ossetia has effectively been a self running independent state  for 2 years or more  with a primarily Russian population that were going along fine until invaded by Georgia and its population rocketed and shelled. The Russians say they were only protecting their own citizens. Why would Russia flex its muscles, maybe because GWB has been pushing/bribing Georgia to join NATO and thus an outbreak of violence in this area would draw in USA,Europe, and Canada. Surely GWB has started enough conflict already without winding up the Russians. He obviously does not understand Russian History. Russia was invaded twice in living memory and once  before that losing millions of its citizens and is very wary of enemies on its borders. How would the US government feel if the Russians offered to completely reequip the Venezuelan military, give it ally status and station Russian troops and missiles there? I bet they wouldnt just ignore it.

  3. anytime democracy is trampled we need to be concerned. putin is one scary guy. gwb better re-evaluate the guy.

  4. We're NEVER being told everything. I wouldn't be surprised if a coalition similar to the Soviet Union popped up over there in a year or two, and slowly grew.

  5. We are never told everything and it was eerie the amount of silence in the media in the first couple of days of the conflict.

It's like they don't want us to know what actually popped off and got all this started. With aircraft carriers going into the gulf sleep with one eye open.

  6. We are being spoon fed propaganda. Almost as much as China feeds their people.

  7. ....history repeats itself.

Putin is a hardcore KGB guy who thinks it's still his sandbox.

Missiles in Poland,Georgia,Seriavo, are all just herrings compared to his real goal of redomination of his world as he sees it.

He's to focus on his me-ism to realize the true cost of his actions, loss of international esteem, loss of WTO,loss of G8, lose of foreign investment, etc. nor does he care.

He's a very dangerous ,castrated man who has Hitler and Napoleonic complexes

  8. One can only guess . Is Russia working it's way toward an alliance with Iran ? And does the oil pipe line through Georgia have significance in this ?I don't believe that Putin would be doing this for any other reason but conquest. But not exactly the conquest of Georgia .Something else.
