  1. BA charge 10% of the adult fare, plus you have to pay ALL of the taxes. Your baby won't have his own seat, but will be on your lap.

If you are flying long haul, you can book a bulkhead seat and you will be able to use the skycot.

BA are good because they give you a full luggage allowance for an infant, which most airlines don't. You are also allowed to take a cabin bag for the infant (in addition to your own), and you can take the pram and car seat for free. You have to leave the pram at the gate and then you pick it up with your luggage, so it's best to take some sort of baby carrier with you, because you can end up walking miles through the airport and waiting for luggage for ages, all with a baby on your hip.

  2. no you dont pay you only pay whene they will take up a seat

  3. You don't have to pay the full fare but you do pay. You get a discount if he sits on your lap. But that's about it.

P.S. Make sure you get a bulkhead seat and ask for a bassinet for your baby if you are not buying him a seat. That is what I did. Good luck!

  4. Hi there, yes you normally pay about half price for the baby & they have to sit on your knee all the way. After they reach the age of 2 you then pay full fare for them & they get a seat of their own (depending on the airline). As a baby they are allowed some luggage but you should phone the airline you are travelling with to check how much.

  5. yeah you need to pay for his seat  if your bringing a car seat with you and i think its just normal luggage its no different to an adult just take what ever you think you need

  6. Hi i flew in april with my daughter who was seven months, i didn't have to pay for her, as she was on my lap! with an additional seat belt around her!

You don't get a baggage allowance for a child that is sat on your lap, i'm not sure about it, if you book i seat for them i would presume that they would get a baggage allowance.

You can book a seat if u wish to take your child's car seat with you, but you will have to pay for the seat and i think it is charged at the rate of a child travelling.

(I wish i had booked a seat for her as it was rather uncomfortable sitting with her on my lap for three hours)

hope this helps and good luck with you flight.

  7. You pay for babies only if he's gonna need a seat otherwise..he can sit with u..i mean on ur lap..

But of course there is a belt around both of u..

  8. you dont have to pay for children under 2 because you will have them on your lap but with good airlines caskets will be provided. because the child dosent have a seat he has no luggage allowance but he is allowed a carry on bag.

good luk with britis airways by the way!!

  9. If you pay for a seat for him he will get the same luggage allowance as everybody else. Usually though a baby that young would not get a seat and sit on a parents lap. In this case he gets no luggage allowance. If he is sitting on your knee it is usually about £29 or something nominal like that. You can take a changing bag as an extra carry on though so i would pack as much as possible in that because its like free extra luggage.

    Good luck!

  10. I flew overseas with my baby when he was 2 and a half months old and I had to pay an 'infant' fee which was 10% of the price of an adult ticket, they provided a bassinet and I could also have him sitting on my lap. He was allowed 10kg for luggage and 10kg carry on luggage.

I was also given the choice of bringing a car seat and having him sit in his own chair which would have cost the price of a 'child' ticket.

This was with China Airlines but when I was looking into which airline to go through they all seemed to have similar fees and luggage allowance for infants.

  11. no but you don not get a seat

  12. Babies which sit on an adults lap fly for free but the do not get a baggage allowance. You can pay the child fare and gget a seat for them and they then get a luggage allowance. The BA website for travelling with infants is https://www.britishairways.com/travel/ch...

  13. my daughter will be 16months wen we go away next yr..she gets NO luggage allowance...and sits on my knee unless u pay for a full child seat (don't no wat age thats from) baby's price is £29 for flights and hol..thats with thomas cook

  14. You don't actually pay for baby to fly only and administration fee of £10 (or it was this when I booked my infant).  The administration fee is so the baby is added to the flight list etc.  SInce they aren't flight paying passengers occupying seats they aren't actually allowed luggage.  Their belongings have to be incorporated into your baggage allowance or you can pay for extra.  They do however allow a pushchair without deducting the weight from your allowance.

  15. ii dont think that you have to pay unless its cheaper than adult prices for planes

  16. I didn't go british airways, but thought i'd add my 2 bobs worth. I just came back from flying with my 4 month old daughter. I had to pay an extra $30 both ways. No extra baggage but was allowed to take her pram. I know that most other air lines you don't pay for them and your allowed a pram and a porta cot but still no extra luggage. Ring the air line and check. They all seem to be different.

    GHood luck

  17. I'm pretty sure you still have to pay for them, yes. I would imagine he gets the same luggage allowance as everyone else.

  18. no,they fly for free strapped to your lap.Check with the airline before flying for the baggage allowance.I think you will only be allowed your own allowance though.

  19. Different airlines have different rules. You should check with the British Airways site or contact a travel agent.

  20. As far as I know, you won't pay for his seat as he won't have one! Children under 2 are expected to sit on the parent's lap for the journey.

I'm not sure about the luggage though, you'd have to look at the terms & conditions of the booking.

  21. With BA you only pay the tax when the child is 0-2 years

  22. You seem to have a lot of conflicting answers! You don't pay a fare for them and they do not have baggage allowance. They travel on your lap until the age of two. Depending on the age of the baby and the quality of the airline, some carry bassinets for very little ones. These are fitted to the wall facing the front row, but if you are talking about a charter flight you wouldn't get anything like this.

  23. usually if the baby is sitting in your lap there may be only a small fee.

  24. No babe they pay for themselves.

  25. I went to travel agents a few backs to sort out a holiday for next year. My baby is 5 months old now and he will be 1 and a half when we go away so is classed as an infant as is any child under 2.  For his holiday we were paying £30.

  26. No, he'll be classed as a babe-in-arms and will sit on your lap with an extension seat belt.

    Not sure about the luggage.

  27. Hi

a baby of under 2 years can travel as a lap passenger, to which you pay a small charge, they are not entitled to any luggage allowance.

alot of airlines do let you buy baby a seat and its costs full childs price and you get the full luggage allowance
