  1. of course we do, thats why we feel so thirsty after a few laps in the pool. even if the pool is cold, you'd still sweat cus ur body heats up from the excercise

  2. Yes you do, do you ever notice that when you swim you get thirsty? You don't realize you sweat because the water just washes it away, but just like when you run or do some other type of physical activity you are going to sweat. One reason why people get dehydrated easier while swimming is because they don't think they need to drink water while swimming because they think they aren't sweating, but little do they realize they are.

  3. yes

  4. Yes. That's why it's so important to stay hydrated while swimming, because we don't realize we're losing fluids as much as we would if we were doing something like running.

As for the water cooling us argument, it might help keep you feeling cooler but it doesn't stop you from perspiring anymore than running on a cool day would stop you from perspiring.

  5. Absolutely.  You don't notice it, but as the workout becomes more intense, your body temperature rises and the cool pool water is not enough to maintain normal body temperature.  Sometimes, I can feel a lot of warmth on my face after a tough set.  Be sure to drink plenty of fluids during practice even if you don't think you're sweating because you probably are.

  6. The average human body sweats about 1 liter during an 8 hour period of active swimming.

  7. I agree with the first answer - we don't, normally.

The purpose of perspiration is to cool the body when it's working hard.  The sweat evaporates, and transfers heat from the body to the air.  But if the water temp. is cool enough already, there's no need for sweat.  The only exception I can think of is if the water is much, much warmer than normal - say at least 90 F. or more.  But who would want to stay in that for very long?

You could test this theory by jumping into a hot tub.  Stay there until you start getting beads of moisture on your head, then taste it.  If it's salty, you're sweating.  If not, it's condensation.

  8. Yes! Its weird isnt it? Most competitive pools are 15% chemicals 60% water 25% sweat

ew! I know 1/4 of the pool is all sweat!!!

  9. The answer is yes, we perspire when we swim. We do that because the body is trying to maintain our internal temperature at about 98.6 degrees F.  You may not feel it, but you should try to replenish your body's fluids by taking a water bottle with you and drinking during your swimming workout. We don't feel it because of the water around us but we do sweat when we are swimming. You are totally correct here.

  10. I don't know for sure - I'm going to say no. We perspire as way for our bodies to cool itself down when we are overheated. Although we are working our muscles and our heart, the water in the pool is keeping our internal temperture down, so there is no need for our bodies to sweat. We may be out of breath and our hearts may beat fast - but that doesn't mean we are sweating.
