Biden didn't properly cite a source in a law school paper, was given an "F" and had to repeat the course. In the late 1980's he once gave a speech which contained material from a British politicians speech. In earlier speeches he had given the proper attribution, but in one particular speech he did not. He has apologized for this many times, and has not repeated this behavior.

All the candidates are middle aged to elderly, and therefore, all of them have something in their past. Biden's mistakes of 20 and 40 years ago should be compared Bush's drunk driving arrest, McCain's cheating on his wife, and Palin's own unwed pregnancy and marijuana use.

The real question should be what have they done recently? Palin's family vendetta which led her to fire the state police chief, her lies about the bridge to nowhere and her connections to indicted Senator Ted Stevens should be more of a cause for concern that what she or any of the candidates did years ago.

Finally, we should look at the politician's mistakes in the context of what behavior is allowed today. Just a marijuana use is no big deal today, consider how modern political speeches are written. Major candidates do not write their own speeches, professional speechwriters do. Do ANY of them give the speechwriters credit, bring them up on stage and thank them for their fine words. The answer is: No, and Never.
