There is enough oil in the USA and I think we could build more refineries if we need to.

  1. That is a loaded question.  First you have to ask what the Axis of evil is.  As far as defined by that old state of the union address (2002-2003?)Iraq is out as a stable nation state, North Korea isn't in the middle east, and Iran is heavily sanctioned.  The Oil trade did, however, thrust middle eastern nations into world wide relevancy, causing a backlash from religious conservative groups who do not what to be effected by globalization, and giving more clout to individual despots to "rock the boat," on a regular basis.  Today's warfare, however, is less dependent on the agenda of the nation state, and more on individuals and groups, as terror and insurgency warfare is so low cost, and protracted in style.  It is a difficult balance now.  Nations with $$ can use it to buy weapons, nations without $$ can bread huge dissent in a rapidly growing and impoverished population.  The best we can do is take care of each problem as they pop up the best we can.

I believe the best way is to empower systems of local independence on food and natural resources rather than forcing globalized trade down peoples throat.  Slow Food is a great example.

  2. I think that kind of logic is obsolete because we need to get off of oil, period. Its bad enough that our economy is based on infinite growth, in a world where nothing is infinite. We can't just put off better, renewable energy sources. We should have already been on them by now. Oil has served us well in boosting pretty much every level of our production as a society. But now we face new problems, and for new problems we need new solutions.

Thats the most basic of reasoning, but most people ignore it. Reason being that people don't want change. They want to go on living a materialistic, superficial, consumerist existence that will never allow us to move forward not only as a culture or society, not even as a civilization, but a species.

So to conclude, its not about where we're getting our oil, or where we can get it and why. Its about how are we going to get off it, and are people even willing to?

  3. How do you know there is enough oil? Do you have a PhD in geology and even then you could not say something like that for certainty. Do you know how much oil the US consumes? It is 25 billion barrels a year. And we still have idiots in this country buying SUV's.

  4. If this does involve Saudi Arabia the question then is which are the other two are the others  Britain and The U.S.If so  the problem is  none of these powers call themselves an Axis and are not in a world wide war plus each has a different amount of strength. Alternative energy via Ethanol and electricity have been put to use as well as a policy to not rely on foreign oil. The trouble is people want to retain control of that foreign oil still. Most oil is in the world is now in The Middle East.  The U.S. is running out of oil it has been for years and so will other countries.  There is also this to consider Urban Expansion and huge cities and all the farm land lost some of which altogether could feed 30 million people. Urban Expansion as well as oil use can be stopped.

  5. The USA buys the vast majority of it's oil from Canada.  And don't believe the Peak Oil scammers who say the world is running out of oil.  There is a huge untapped oil field in Alaska called the Gull Island or something.

  6. Not that much of the oil sold in the USA even comes out of the middle east.  http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/storie...  Although, other nations such as China are more dependant on middle-east oil, particularly in Iran. The "axis of evil" sells their oil whether the USA buys it or not. If you have oil for sale in this world... it will be bought by someone. It makes no difference if we buy it or someone else does.

Keeping some of our oil reserved in the ground is probably a good idea for national security. It's only going to get harder to come by and the competition more fierce...

Building more refineries has nothing to do with it. All the oil we use is refined here already. More refining capacity could lower gas prices some... which is exactly why "we" won't be building any more refineries... Smaller refineries have been bought and closed down by "big oil".  Environmental restrictions put in place by a government greatly controlled by "big oil" prevent new refineries from being built.

As far as "the axis of evil" goes... I've heard a lot of talk, but I haven't seen any proof. Weapons of mass destruction? Giant "terrorist" bases under mountains? I'm sure these nations hate us more than ever NOW... and they've always had their reasons... The European "elite" has meddled there for ages. They drew the borders that continue to cause unrest to this day.

If this is truly a "free market" and a "global economy"...  I have to wonder why the oil producing countries don't build refineries here and drill, process and market their own product. Why would they need "big oil" middlemen taking a good chunk of the profits? It's OK for "American" companies to go make junk in China, but middle eastern countries can't refine and market their own oil elsewhere?

Really... It's not OK for companies to call themselves "American" and force Americans to "compete" with oppressed slaves for jobs. It's treason plain and simple. We are all supposed to put our country and our countrymen first. A "free market" is supposed to work WITHIN that. "Free trade" does not include labor, particularly replacing American workers with foreign slaves, building infrastructure for potential enemies while tearing down our own manufacturing infrastructure jeapordizing national security, paying taxes to foreign governments, favoring the rich over the people this government is sworn to serve... It's all treason. What I'm saying is that some people make all the rules, they are not necessarily fair and "the axis of evil" has the audacity to question them.

I think "axis of evil" means any country with wealth that isn't interested in going along with the "globalist's" plans for a "new world order" and global government run by the world banks and "global elite" (global crime syndacate).

These globalists have managed to control much of the world by printing money out of thin air and creating debts that cannot be paid. Then, they collect real assets in exchange for the worthless paper they printed and use the interest they collect on money that never existed to buy up anything or anyone of importance in the world. This doesn't work well where there's oil and poverty cannot be created. This is why the "globalists" always have to stoop to bruit force when dealing with oil producing nations and why these nations cannot be allowed to become strong enough to defend themselves, as it would set back the globalist's plans for a one world government hundreds or thousands of years. This is why all the oil producing nations that will not submit to the leadership of the global crime syndacate are labeled as "evil" and eventually bombed back into the stone age time and time again.

Having oil has allowed certain nations to accumulate wealth and begin building what could become the "superpowers" of the future, without joining forces with the "globalists" in order to do so. The USA and European powers have regularly done anything they could to repeatedly tear these nations down when they start to develop. We fund their enemies, revolutions, radicals... bomb them ourselves when all else fails...

How long will they be able to call much of the world "developing nations" and still have people buy it? They are not "developing nations". They are nations repeatedly torn apart, by the European "elite" 90% of the time.

The "axis of evil" countries aren't all in the middle-east... They aren't controlled by the same group... The only common denominator I see in all of them is that they all have oil wealth and they all resist the "new world order".  They do not wish to be controlled by the "global elite" and they talk about not wanting to trade in the crashing US dollar any longer. They are not part of the "globalist" system run by the world banks and the "global elite" crime syndacate (unlike Europe, The USA, China, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, etc...)  and they have nothing to gain by pretending the dollar is still worth something. This is why they're "evil". They have always been under attack and they remain under attack. Only the "reasons" change from year to year. There is very little difference between any of these nations and Saudi Arabia, except that Saudi Arabia has pledged their allegience to the "new world order".

  7. We depend too much on foreign oil and especially from the Middle East which produces more than half than the world's supply. I do not think there is enough oil in North America for us to be dependent. Even if there is some unexplored black gold, environmentalists and activists would not allow people to destroy forests/wildlife to dig for oil.

As for axis of evil, most of our oil comes from Saudi Arabia and the OPEC nations. Saudia Arabia is an ally of the USA.

There is another lesson learned from history which is the oil embargoes against the USA during the 1970s.
