This question goes out to everyone.. you might be a full time musician or maybe just a person who whistles a tune while bathing. Why do people and enjoy the essence of music making? And in this day and age, is making and enjoying good music making more important or the awards that come with it?

  1. Music can take you to many places. It's the same at an looking at an image, in a way.

Unfortunately, there is not much good music these days. If you've listened to the Top 40 in the past few years you know exactly what I'm talking about. LOL

There are not alot of melodies to be found in hit music today, nor is there any kind of compositional effort or soul put into it. Counterpoint, harmony, melody? You won't find any of this in the Top 10!

Awards are useless gestures which only stroke the ego.

In this day and age, music is more of a financial consideration instead of an artistic endeavor. The question these days is 'will this song make money and top the charts?'

Of course it will because it has been designed to do so and has become a corporate, generic and bland in the process. Making music has become a science which has taken all the fun and all the reason for making music in the first place.
