  1. Heh. Hear.

The so called hatred is actually developed from an ancient war between the two that began when a band of Vampires exposed themselves as dominate beings and went on a killing spree with little regard to exposure. In this advent they came across a band of Werewolves (Gypsies) whom they failed to overpower hence the war began. A war that is actually contradictory in nature to what we have come to believe the two represent.

See Werewolves when turned by the full moon develops an insatiable hunger for meat, period. They are not blood lusters. The turn is a painful and a extremely draining experience. So be it a horse a cow or an unfortunate human the Werewolf will feed this hunger with no regard. This doesn't make them evil its simply a curse. So the war which lead to the hatred is neither for food source or territory thats Hollywood Myth. It is simply based on the arrogance of the Vampire. Hate to break it to you Werewolves are not inherently evil as one may believe.

Many gypsy's of old were considered to be the human guise of Werewolves as the traveled through nature far from humans to avoid such tragedies that they are aware they are capable of causing. When the event of the Full Moon is over these vagabonds would simply continue on with their everyday routine selling wares or entertaining. Although some were Vampire hunters travelling to hunt their pray. These were know to induce their own change.

The issue between the two Vampires and Werewolves is essentially based on the sheer arrogance of the Vampire. However, many Werewolves are neutral towards Vampires as long as no humans are killed on the "Gypsy" lands or roads of travel as it would lead to exposure of the wolves whom by the way were reverend in some cultures as Holy beings and looked upon with respect and the saviors from Vampires as when they turn both (Vamps and Wolves)their senses are heightened when one is around. Depending on the situation either the Werewolf will attack if the Vampire is in violation or a roguish Vampire will attack at the most vulnerable moment of the Wolf, when he is turning. The mixture of beast and human blood drives the thirst of the Vampire wild. Otherwise they go their own way or work hard to avoid each other.

Simply put the sheer force of the Werewolf is not easily contained by Vampires and Vampires have a craving thirst for such a hybrid style of blood the wolves have flowing through them. So many Vampires carry spite towards the Wolves as they cannot without high risk satisfy the thirst while others welcome them as family. So they are not enemies per se.
