What I am asking is that do Americans, British take a nap in the afternoon? eg, 1-2pm...Do they do that? I am curious because in Japan people take a short nap after lunch.

  1. well i am an american and i try to put my daughter down between 12 and 2. she just turned 3. i would love to be able to take a nap every afternoon but i work in elderly care and i cant do it. i work 3 pm to 11 pm. if i am not the one who has my daughter she doesn't take a nap and is cranky by the time i get her back.

  2. its really a personal opinion if you want to nap.(I would really love one too) however if you are working then your job doesnt pay to let you sleep. people still put thier kids down to nap but usually adults dont becuase they are working but when I stayed home, I took naps after a day of hectic mess. people in japan are smart, they know your brain needs a break after eating.

  3. An afternoon nap isn't really part of the UK thing, unfortunately. Certainly, if you are working, then you get your lunch break (usually 1 hour) then back to work. I have seen people have a nap in that lunch hour, but then they missed out on food!

It is a bit of a shame - I was in Spain, there they tend to take a nap in the afternoon (too hot there to do anything else!). Shops closed for a couple of hours, then they opened again 4-5pm till late. I really enjoyed that nap!
